About being in a bad situation but not knowing how to get out of it. 20 lines

A Sinking Ship

Standing still on a sinking ship
is not as hard as it may seem.
Surrounded by disaster,
but stuck on complacency.

I see the waving coast guard
telling me to jump ship.
But fear has snared me in a net,
and my ship has gone adrift.

The waters are eerily calm,
but I see the sharks circling me.
The taste of my blood they anticipate,
when my ship finally concedes.

Land is within reach
and the possibilities are everywhere;
but my pirate's booty *Gold* is precious
and I'm not sure I want to share.

Abandoning a sinking ship
is harder than it may seem.
Accepting the lure of the unknown
is scarier than the ocean deep.
