All I See

I wrote this when my brother went off to college.

It's all I can do to stop it,
The pain is mounting,
Beyond control,
I welcome it.....
With arms wide open,
My eyes swim with tears,
If joy that you are there,
Freedom that you waited so long for......
But also of the distance,
For the things unsaid,
For the creatures beneath the rug,
The dark secrets I hide.....
To save you,
So that this joy rains,
May you not see this,
May you see my smile,
May you see only the happiness,
Cause that's all I see when I'm with you....
