A poem about hummingbirds that have been coming to my garden for the last six years.
The general sits on his strategic perch
Watching, guarding his sweet prize from intruders
Armed with sword he takes flight
A duel to defend his throne

His agile opponent turns skyward
Higher and higher in flight
They twist and turn with great speed
As she hovers above the feeder
Sipping sweet nectar
