Did I misread her...or was I hoodwinked?

Do you remember us walking through the Mall in September?
The Monument standing tall, your hand in mine was so tender
It was a very chilly night but we walked and we talked
And from then I could have sworn I'd put a lock on your heart

My heart stopped when you lay your head in my warm lap
On the bench, and as you slept I suppressed a light laugh
It was four in the morning so I guess you were tired
But what I would have given up to sit in front of a fire!

You asked for one more minute so you could have your rest
I'm quite surprised you didn't hear my heart pound in my chest
One turned to fifteen more 'cause I ignored my watch
Which I did because you told me not to look at the clock

That was two weeks ago, but I still almost remember
The way we touched and felt each other one magical night in September...
I want to need you, squeeze and please you as I did that cold night
But that night was just a moment in your perfect little life
