Sinterklaas. A celebration in Holland on December 5, to commemorate the extreme generosity of Saint Nicolas. Many gifts are given on this day. It is the Dutch Santa Claus.
Sinterklaas travels by steam-boat from Spain to Holland. In Holland he is said to travel on a white horse, with his helpers, Zwarte Piet. Presents would be delivered through the chimneys. It's a most wonderful celebration for children. Often times presents are being given together with a poem and a special way of packing the present, a 'surprise'. Lots of creativity is being used to wrap the presents as funny or beautiful as possible.
