The Light

All I've seen is darkness,
But now a light appears,
Small, yet burning bright.

Warm and welcoming,
I can't help but smile,
Letting it wipe away my tears.

Embracing me,
Letting me know,
People care.

Laughter rises from my chest,
Flush heats my cheeks,
A sparkle in my eye.

The darkness lurks,
Waiting to strike,
Waiting for my misery.

Soon,
My downfall will come,
Very soon.

But,
For now,
I am happy.
