A plea for peace... |
| Let me not speak that unkind word. Let not hatred from my mouth be heard. Lies will never hover round my door, Let me love both the rich and the poor. If I covet what others have as their own, then seeds of dissention will be sown. My skin and theirs is but a frail thing to give our bones a protective covering. Greedy, hateful, hurtful men abound hurting our ears with their strident sound. From the time men stood tall and straight there have been those who cruelly hate. Do the mothers want to give their child, that some war-monger may wage war wild. Do the old ones want to see bloody dying, the weeping, wailing and desperate crying? One thing I most fervently believe is true, each of us is known by whatever deeds we do. Stand and say, “No more shall we support war, Hear the knocking? It is peace - open the door. |
