Calculating happiness for everyone but us.

I knew exactly what I was doing
That night
When the page turned

It's easy to look back
Spin the cliche
Romeo and Juliet
Tristan and Iseult
Tony and Maria
But it doesn't work that way

Life doesn't twist
Into a romantic tragedy
What we did for love
What I did for love
Was break our hearts

I knew exactly what I was doing
That night
When I ended my only chance
At happiness
Life
Love
It sounds so maudlin

There was someone else
Standing between us
Phantom familia
Sworn to destroy
Jealousy is a savage beast

So

I knew exactly what I was doing
That night
You wouldn't
Couldn't
But love doesn't cure everything
Doesn't save all souls from damnation
Crushing our hearts
Sending you away

And it never worked out
And I don't know where you are
But even so
I love you.
