As that time of year rolls around again
Of candied hearts from knights of men
I find that solitude has become
My constant companion
Since a partner seems imperative
Solitude will be my optive
I'll not pour out my aching heart
Or become lost loves' captive
Of a runaway cad who wishes to remain furtive
So Solitude, Solitude....oh how I love thee
Together we have consumed mounds of candy
And in the midst of our sugar high have become quite chummy
And even in the off season have become good buddies
Now I don't have to pretend to be happy
About an absent Valentine
When all the while I feel sad and gloomy
As long as you, Solitude, will always be with me
