“You broke it, you fix it.” Once again another self-righteous, inane and unhelpful remark, Sam thought to himself. Just why had they brought this buffoon on a highly risky covert mission? Oh yes, of course, because he’s the son of the head of this secret agency, MI6. Needless to say, Donny would certainly not be a secret agency had it not been for his father in command. His incompetence was the elephant in the room; everyone could see it, apart from himself of course. His latest comment had absolutely no situational value. “Well Donny, how do you expect me to fix a radio that has an aerial missing, no receiver and a smashed speaker?” Unfortunately Sam drew the short straw as he had been the one who had to carry the device during the operation. Their mission was to complete Operation Tiger Prawn II which involved rescuing a high ranking American spy from an Iraqi high security prisoner of war gaol. It had not gone fully to plan. The team of 4 had not anticipated a sentry gun at the entrance to the prisoner of war cells, a fault primarily on intelligence back at MI6. Sam had to temporarily lay the radio down as the team of 4 fled from the sentry gun which had begun to turn and fire on them just as they crept round the end of the hallway. “…” Donny responded with a slightly despondent murmur. Head down at the floor, he suddenly looked up with a face stricken with panic and desperately exclaimed “But how will we radio in our escape chopper!?” It was a concern that had sprung into everyone’s mind as soon as the radio was seen broken, however, only Donny had the lack of composure and equanimity to reinforce the fear that they all felt. Once they had rescued the American spy they were to radio the nearest MI6 base in Iraq for an escape chopper, without a radio they needed to think of another to escape. Right now they had killed the entrance guards but were hiding from the view of the sentry gun. “We’ll worry about that in due course” began Des taking charge as the captain of the mission, “right now we need to find cell 106 and get this guy the hell outta there!” The next thing Sam knew, he was waking up with a thumping headache and with blurry eyed vision he read ‘Cell 154’. He had been captured, completely unawares how, but turned round to see Donny weeping. God, why had he been put in a cell with Donny? How long would he have to console Donny for? “I did it… I knocked you out because I was mad at you for being insolent to me…” Donny whimpered. Sam hit him again and again and again. Sam wasn’t a murderer until this day. |
