Homecoming

One was amazed
When you appeared at the door
She thought you had left
Without a backwards glance
At those you left behind.

One was not amazed
At your return
He always knew you would
That you couldn't stay away
From those you always loved.

Yet one was surprised
That he was welcomed back
With open arms and tears,
That they would forgive
The day he left their lives.
