A Story About The Power Of Eternal Love |
She closes her eyes, remembering the dream. The soft whisper in her ear, the warm breath on her neck, the sensation of fingers running softly down the side of her breasts, down her waist to her hips. She sighs softly as she lays staring out the window at the soft moonlight. She wills herself to fall back asleep when a sound startles her. Is it a thump?, a rustle? Something between the two, she thinks to herself. It’s faint but she hears it, coming from outside the balcony doors. But how is that possible? She asks herself, This is the 3rd floor. She walks to the door, opens it and steps out onto the balcony. The soft moonlight, illuminates her pale skin and white lace nightgown. She peers to her right and left but sees nothing. She walks to the edge of the balcony and looks down to the garden below. All is quiet. I must have imagined it, she tells herself and turns to head back inside when something catches her eye. Was that there before? she asks herself, sure that the single red rose and scroll had not been laying in front of the door when she came out. How did it get there? She leans down to pick it up, takes one last look behind her, and walks back inside. Sitting on the bed, she places the rose beside her and opens the scroll. It looks ancient. The writing is faded and the parchment paper looks as if it will crumble in her hands. She unrolls it carefully and begins to read: My love, How I long to hold you, to take you in my arms and feel your lips on mine. My soul aches for you as yours does for me. You may not understand the ache you feel inside but it is there, the deep longing that nothing but my love will ever relieve. We have been cursed to live one thousand lifetimes searching and longing for one another, two halves of one soul, longing to be complete, yet destined never to be whole until the sentence has been served. I will never allow you to forget our love, my darling. Each lifetime I will leave you a single rose and this message to give you hope that one day we will be together again and that ache we feel will finally cease. Watch for me my love, for one day, I will come to you and we will be one again. Tears run down her face as she carefully rolls up the parchment paper and sets it on the bedside table. She curls up on her bed, closes her eyes and sobs. The memories flooding back of many lifetimes ago when her wings were ripped from her body and her soul was ripped in two. Half her soul was placed in the body of a male child while her half was placed in that of a female. Lifetime after lifetime she would live alone, searching for love but never finding it, being used but never loved, being touched but never pleasured. The ache grew stronger with each lifetime until this moment when the pain is so intense, she feels like she will die. She walks slowly to the balcony doors and steps outside, hugging herself against the cool breeze. She walks to the edge of the balcony and looks down. How easy it would be to end it all right now. End all the pain and move one step closer to the moment she will be whole again. The ache grows so intense she can bear it no longer. She pulls herself up on the ledge and looks down, closes her eyes and leans forward. She feels herself being lifted. Strong arms embrace her and lift her down on to the balcony. Her heart beats powerfully in her chest as she turns to look into the softest, kindest eyes she has ever seen. “Our time has come my love,” the familiar voice whispers, as he brushes her cheek with his hand and kisses her lips softly. “A thousand lifetimes we have waited for this, now we can finally be whole.” Tears run down her face as he lifts her into his arms and carries her to the bed. He lays her down carefully and looks down into her eyes. As he kisses a trail from her lips, down her neck and over her breasts, she feels something she has never felt before. This is what true pleasure feels like, what love feels like. “Now it is time for us to become one at last my love” he whispers as he pulls her underneath him and looks deeply into her eyes. A bright light fills the room. She feels something inside her shift and is filled with a feeling of completeness she has never felt before. They look at each other and smile. A smile of pure joy and contentment. One thousand lifetimes could not keep them apart. They are finally whole once again. |
