The college taken over before anybody knew
The first in of course were the Marines
They were familiar with combat scenes.

Gunnery Sergeant Milford was his name
Killing the enemy was his fame
His men respected him oh so well
Any would follow him to ....

A sniper's bullet took his life
So that is what they told his wife
The truth we will never know
He took it with him down below.

Milford was the best of his land
He deserves more than most understand.
