I hold you at arm's length
Never quite willing to trust
You break through my walls with your love's strength
Knowing there's a heart beneath the crust.

I try so hard not to fall in love
I was hurt one too many times
Yet like an angel from above
You overcome another's crimes.

You win my heart as I knew you would
It nearly scares me to tears
Yet you overcome them as only you could
You alleviate all my fears.

I no longer hold you at arm's length
I now hold you with all my strength.
