A New Life

New life straight ahead
peaking over ivory buds
all she sees is trees.

This is the one path
that the fledglings travel on
away from parents.

A yellow sun ray?
she climbs higher and higher;
a smile on her face.

Hope fills racing thoughts,
a city beyond the trees;
Leave these pretty buds?

She must eventually leave,
but for now she stays.
