I saw the light in your eyes,
twinkling on the day you were born.
I learned of all your different cries,
the first language you could form.

I saw you crawl for the first time,
as you made your way around our home.
I guided those shaky first steps of yours,
the ones that said you were growing up.

I took you to your first day of school,
Smiling to encourage and comfort you.
I watched you grow and learn all you could
growing and blossoming into adulthood.

I saw you on your wedding day and smiled,
you have come full circle in your childhood.
Soon there will be grandchildren,
and I will love them the way I love you.
