Fallen Tree

Lightening struck a tree
Just down the street from me.

I heard a great big crash
To my window I did dash.

A tree I thought was sound
Was now laying on the ground.

It used to be so full of life
Now looks like it’s been cut with a knife.

No telling how many years it had stood
Reduced now to nothing more than wood.

Oh how I wish I didn’t see
Lightening had hit that tree.
