A poem inspired by the natural beauty on the rugged west coast of British Columbia. |
| Nels Bight Salal and rugged west coast Bear scat and berries Muddy trails and ferns Line the rotting boardwalks We hike for hours in this emerald forest and reach the sea and its majestic a beauty like no other Each time I came back to the coast I fall in love I fall in love With the rolling waves And the washed up kelp Cedars and pines along the beach and Driftwood and sand Sand imprinted with the ocean’s fingers In long curved lines Marking the bight sand plovers dart and flash above The shoreline like choppers Where beyond, Whales are blowing out in the open ocean Incredible, wild, wet and pure Here, called back to the sea I let it hold me here Forever Salty air and sandy bottoms |
