The Frankenstein Heart

What if a young girl named Leigh found out the she had a mechanical heart?
What if her father was a great inventor and engineer and he frankensteined the heart for her because he couldn’t stand the pain of losing her to an unknown congenital heart condition that no one could save her from? The doctors had already lost his wife, the thought of losing her had been too much to bear. Now the heart needs to be replaced and his daughter has found out.
What if the young girl had grown up and had become fascinated with mechanics because of her father’s success and her own mechanical heart. The very heart that may have to be replaced once again some day.
What if her cat carried the same mechanical heart and this heart was put in at her begging. What if the father had a partner that was not as mechanically inclined that wanted to take his ideas and he found out about the mechanical heart in the cat because he was there when Leigh brought the cat, half dead to her father, crying and begging him to save her.
What if Leigh lived in a time where her interests in mechanics and engineering wasn’t encouraged and she was expected to become a normal, respectable young woman.
What if Leigh rebelled against the constraints of her time and learned everything she could about mechanics and engineering.
What if her father taught her his secrets instead of including his partner
What if his partner used her father to further his own plan.
What if his plan included killing and replacing peoples hearts with mechanical hearts inevitably causing them to become unwilling soldiers and slaves and do his bidding should they wish to survive.
What if he sold his plan to a huge corporation and that corporation had started signing unknowning people up with a clinical trial to perfect heart conditions.
What if his partner became desparate to get the plans for the cat’s heart and he decided to go to any lengths necessary in order to get them so he could get paid and be given the recognition for having created the heart.
What if his partner found out about Leigh’s heart and decided to try to blackmail him to create a mindless human.
What if Leigh found out about her father’s working on a mechanical brain and didn’t realize he was being forced.
What if she was given that information by her father’s assistant.
