This is a conversation I had with myself at the library one afternoon

I met my younger self yesterday
He was 10mins late, I was early.
As happy and hopeful he was,
In his heart was a creeping shadow of fear.
His garments hung tired and crumpled,
Yet his cheerful smile outshined the wear.

"You look so excited today," I said.
"Si SeƱor, I heard you lived in London now.
Made new friends now, someone even wished you a happy birthday.
Did you become the professional you had always wanted to be?
You think Dad and Mom are proud of you now?
Did Grandpa believe in you now?
Yours dues duly paid now?"

My dues duly not paid, I guess.
I found Jesus now.
Time after time I ended my sentence unintentionally with understanding.
Caesar will receive his share, just not from me.
Enjoyed my cake, surely I shall have it back,
Preferably tomorrow morning, God willing.

He was so anxious about his future.
I told him he is doing fine,
That everything works out in the end.

Speak life.
Speak love.
Speak bravery and truth.
Speak kindness and wisdom.

In 5 years, I wonder what we would talk about?
My professional life.
