About a Taxi Driver who is a womanizer and manipulative..... |
*The Taxi driver: CHP 1 – Crazy drive around the estates* “Carlos! stop the car! Now!” Faith exclaimed as Carlos overshot the intersection which he was to take in order to take Faith to her estate, Fedha Estate, Nairobi. “What do you think you are doing?” Faith asked as she sat right behind Carlos, who was driving his car even faster. “Taking you home.” Carlos told Faith calmly. He did not want to tell her everything. “No, you are kidnapping me.” Faith said reaching for her handbag, “I will call the police now.” “Hey, hey! Relax! This isn’t the first time I am taking you home, why not let me to just drive and get you home?” Carlos asked, accelerating towards JKIA. “You are way past my estate. I don’t know where you are taking me. What the hell is wrong with you?” Faith said reaching for her phone. “Don’t call anyone, I will take you home.” Carlos insisted. By then, Faith could not hide her fear. She looked at Carlos through the rear mirror and asked, “How can I trust you to take me home when you are literally flying down the highway towards the airport?” Carlos sighed and said, “Ok, I am going to be honest with you.” He paused to check his side mirrors. “Yes, and you are kidnapping me.” Faith said. “No, I am escaping from the police.” Carlos said. “The police? What have you done to them?” Faith asked, turning to look behind expecting to see a police van. However, she only saw a Subaru and several other vehicles. “No police behind us!” Faith said and then added, “I will not pay the extra amount even if you get me home.” “I will not charge you anything since this is all my mistake. I should not have picked you.” Carlos said. “What do you mean? Are you not a taxi driver anymore? Are you now a gangster?” Faith asked. “No, I am a taxi driver and I am not a gangster! Hey! Relax! I will get you home!” Carlos said, accelerating down the highway like a crazy driver. He overtook several vehicles almost crushing into another from behind before making several maneuvers that put more distance between him and the policemen behind them. Carlos could see the policemen trying to catch up but he was far much better than them. “Carlos! I swear to God! I will never ever call you again to take me home even if I am late!” Faith said. “Ok.” Carlos said calmly. Faith was mad. She was wondering: how can he remain so calm when I am mad with him? “Ok? eh! Ok?! all you can say is Ok?” Faith asked, almost screaming. “What else did you expect me to say?” Carlos asked. “Jesus!” Faith said and held her face while leaning forward. “Fasten your seat belt, it is safer for you that way.” Carlos told Faith. “I will not, get me home.” Faith said in defiance. “Alright.” Carlos said and suddenly took another turn that was getting him off the highway into some other residential estates. He took several other turns rapidly, sometimes being forced to brake hard to avoid knocking down motorcyclists who were also dashing all over. “These motorcyclists are crazy! They think they own the roads!” Carlos said as he came close to knocking another boda boda rider who joined the road without even checking. “No, you are the one that is crazy! See where you are taking me! I hate you now!” Faith said. Carlos simply concentrated onto the road. They found themselves in Baraka estate before Carlos took several other turns fast until they were in Nyayo Estate. From there, he drove fast until they came to Fedha estate from another direction that got Faith totally confused. “Where are we?” she asked, thinking the places looked familiar. Her head was spinning already. “Fedha estate.” Carlos told Faith. “Really?” Faith asked, looking around for any familiar feature. However, as she was looking around, Carlos slowed down as if to stop before turning to look at her. “We are home.” Carlos told Faith. They came to a stop right in front of the house she was living in. “Oh! My God! You took me in circles until I forgot where I am. Now, let me out.” Faith said. Carlos, like the nice taxi driver, got out of the car fast, dashed to the left where Faith was about to unlock the door and opened the car door for her. He even held it as she stepped out. “You are now acting here like a gentleman after acting to me like a gangster just a few minutes ago!” “Whatever!” Carlos said, “But, I am glad you are home safe.” Faith struggled with her shopping. Carlos stood aside looking at her. “Help me with this, please.” Faith told Carlos. Carlos grabbed the shopping bag. He let her lead the way towards the gate. When he got to the gate, he stopped as if not wanting to go past the gate. Faith however turned to him and said, “Please, if you don’t mind, help me to take them to my house. It is high up there and I am a little tired.” Faith, who lived on the fifth floor of the house, was feeling exhausted from the crazy drive around the estates. “Alright, lead the way.” Carlos told Faith. This wasn’t the first time Carlos was bringing Faith home. However, it was the first time to get into the building. The staircase was steep and winding, but spacious enough. On their way up, they met 2 other people who were on their way down. Faith greeted them politely and the two, a man and a woman, replied as if they were bothered to answer. “Nairobi, phew! Everyone lives like a stranger!” Faith said. “That is Nairobi for you. You will get used to.” Carlos told her. They got to Faith’s house. She seemed hesitant to allow Carlos into her house but Carlos looked into her eyes and said, “I suppose you won’t give me a glass of water while I am standing here at the door.” Faith smiled and said, “Alright, come in, I can as well make for you a cup of coffee.” “Thank you.” Carlos said. Carlos got inside and made himself comfortable. Her house was clean and tidy, with beautiful light brown leather couches. From the look of it, Faith was a rich woman based on the size of the TV that was hanging on the wall at the living room. The carpet on the floor also spoke of riches. “You are one crazy driver. I don’t know what it is between you and the police, but, I must admit, your driving skills are impressive.” Faith said while giving Carlos a glass of water and a glass jug full of clean water, “Take as much as you can, and after that, go, I don’t like male visitors in my house.”......
