trial of fossil fuels: are they charged guilty or sworn innocent? school assignment

TRIAL OF FOSSIL FUELS: ARE THEY CHARGED GUILTY OR PROVED INNOCENT?

Perceive yourself stepping out from the comfort of your quarters, only to be struck with sudden difficulty to breathe due to dirty, foul smells of chemicals all in the surroundings. Not quite the thing we look forward to--but this could most certainly be a promise of a future if we leave ourselves in excessive usage of fossil fuels. The footstool of our current way of living is fossil fuels. The coal, oils, and natural gases have been the leading factor in enabling us to do daily tasks in absolute ease; whether it's to run our cars or light our homes. The problem--a quite unforeseen one until recently brought to light--is that this very helpful possession is also a very dangerous one, as it proceeds in multitudes of being harmful to our environment. The extreme usage of these fossil fuels has caused our society to have neared a dangerous edge. It is binding upon us, for the needs and requirements of our planet, to cease our extreme usage of fossil fuels and turn to alternatives instead.

Out of man's thoughtless nature and a keen desire to remain in their comfort zone, society argues such that elimination of fossil fuels is an impossible, far-fetched dream. History testifies to the words of truth uttered by Robert A. Heinlein, as he once stated, "Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done." It is a mesmerizing fact that where once, in a tale of time, humanity considered something impossible, it was only through the dreamers that such became possible--and so we read such things headlessly without once pondering over such events immensely. Consider the period that shadowed European realms--the period of illiteracy, where the nobles held power alone along with the central power of the Church. Had the dreamers not been keen to transition into a better society, Europe would not have returned in all its glory and might. Take India, which was seas and languages apart from the influence of Europe, where the commoners sought freedom but thought it impossible, till Mahatma Gandhi took the lead and was the pillar of support for India's sweet victory. Let those who wish to pay heed ponder over these examples, and if such does not bring one into an astounding daze, then let them remind themselves of our human originality. From the wild forests to civilized lands--had our ancestors thought everything is impossible, we would not have reached this place.

Most argue, due to the lingering concern in the back of their mind, that fossil fuel being ceased in usage will only bring about issues in job sectors and the economy altogether. This, however, is a very wrong myth, and as myths go--they're always far from the reality. It is noted that over 16.2 million individuals were employed in the year of 2023 for renewable energy sectors, while fossil fuels didn't see much of a growth; all very tautly standstill. Further, major important countries like the United Kingdom and United States noted an extreme profit through the renewable energy sector. They lavishly stated the GDP's increase through renewable energy, which not only reduced bankruptcy rates significantly but helped the country on a larger scale.

The constant dependency on fossil fuels has brought numerous disadvantages and problems to society, which brings the need--as clear as daylight--to shift to renewable energy sources. The World Health Organization has thoroughly documented that emissions from fossil fuels have brought the rage of health issues all over due to the pollution. It has been taken into account that, due to fossil fuels, cancers, respiratory issues, diseases, and so forth have all been birthed through constant usage of fossil fuels. Places with fossil fuels have also agreed upon these statistics, as communities have noted that areas with fossil fuel extremity have seen asthma and lung issues in adolescents and immunity issues. Thus, the need arises for a transfer into renewable energy to prevent more people ailing due to the cons of fossil fuels.

It is a common belief that global society is too reliant on fossil fuels to make a diverging part into transferring toward the renewable energy sector. The argument most are keen to support is that society globally is way too dependent on fossil fuels, which makes it withering to shift into renewable energy sources. However, this is a far-fetched misconception, particularly due to our current times' technological mass improvements. In the same manner a builder erects a building, he or she does so with constant effort and hope. Likewise, for us to transfer into renewable energy, we need to make constant effort. Just as the saying goes, "Rome was not built in one day," success cannot be attained by nightfall. With slow steps, success is a promise on the horizon.

The discussion that has enveloped us regarding fossil fuels has shown us a proper imbalance in the economy and environmental fields due to fossil fuels. From being the culprit of spreading diseases to the environment getting corrupted, fossil fuels are giving way for only the worst outcomes. It's incumbent on us that we take action--before everything falls away from our hands, just in the manner sand falls out of one's hands. Returning back to where we started, I leave you to truly ponder over a world that's far from a fantasy of clear skies and grasses--a world where you're left with foul smells and uncomfortable breaths, all due to fossil fuels. If you truly desire a better scenario, then it's time we act responsibly starting now; for it's better to be late than never.
