One day our time really does run out, and we really do break down. Walking hurts like running, seeing becomes blurry.
Do you know what I do, when things go all wrong? Close my eyes, and sigh…we must sometimes be patient. Breath, and say, all things must fail, but love never faileth. Someday if I can no longer stand, and if my memory goes, I’ll smile, I’ll see you again.
Much sad goes by quietly in creaking old houses, eyes gazing out from behind dusty walls and peeling paint.
Ah, but the Lord says, my dears soon I’ll come and sit with you at that quiet old table, and say “come on now, let’s go back home, been here just a little while now haven’t you?” Then peace comes like the dawn, if we are sleepy with age, it lifts our eyes, fills our souls.
There are many stories running through life, never one the same. Injustice flies its wings and some bright beautiful souls never get out of the trash heap prisons poured over them. Some fight the greatest evils much alone, or travel far away on old roads, only the sound of wind to keep them company.
But we are led all softly on, if we will, by the Healer. He says in His own time, in His own way, you are so much more than you were yesterday. I have a lot more planned for you, I have seen and known you all the long weary days, when you thought you were alone. I was still there and we oft sat together, far away from others.
If life twists darkly, it will only be the thick fogs, it will rise as dark monsters, but I will be there, and someday I will step softly over, the winds and their storms will obey, the waves with their crashing will cease, every knee will bow, and all tongues confess. I’ll remember you too, even here in this foreign land. Truly, Peace cometh this morning.
