You find a device that can transport you into the roles of fictional characters |
You assume the role of recent college grad Jamie, who finds a strange device among your unpacked stuff, labeled as the "Fictional Insertion Device," or "FID." While you initially assume it's a toy sent to the wrong person, an accidental activation gives you more than you bargained for--and wanting more. The FID allows you to transport yourself into a fictional world--whether that's from a video game, movie, anime, comic, or book--by assuming the role of one of the characters within that world. This is done by pointing the device at a character, or something like their name or description for a written medium, and pressing the button, at which point you will be instantly teleported into the fictional world, immediately taking over for the target. You retain your original body, but will be wearing the clothes of the character you have become; others within the world will perceive you as that character, and you will perceive yourself as the character in your reflection, photographs and videos, and recordings. The device will follow you into the fictional world, appearing on your person, if possible, or near you upon entry. If you use the FID in the fictional world on another character, you will instantly assume their role, taking their place in the world, while the character you just were will "resume" their role, believing that whatever you did in their role were their own actions. This carries over to the real world as well--actions you perform in the role of a character will be reflected on the actual media they originate from, in such a way that makes the most sense for the character, and reality will adjust to make it so that was always how the story had played out. You can use the FID to return to your world at any time within a fictional world by holding the button down for a few seconds, at which point you will be transported back to where you were when you activated the device, but with time having passed at a staggered rate--time often moves faster in fiction, so if a day has passed there, only a few hours may have passed in real life. Reality is adjusted to explain your absence while the device is in use. Holding down the button in the real world will revert any changes to reality you have caused by using the device. Additions welcome and encouraged, but please try to write at least a paragraph and use proper grammar/spelling! Additionally, please keep things PG 13 and avoid using the FID on characters that are obviously underaged. Other than that, please feel free to get creative and have fun! |
