A witch gets her hair restyled. 300-word flash |
Sinister’s Salon Mabel needed a new look. She had numerous parties and dinners to go to, and she felt frazzled at the very idea of them. Regardless, she needed a change, especially in her hair. “Not to mention a new stylist,” she reminded herself. Her last one lost both arms and couldn’t do the work anymore. But that was to be expected eventually with a zombie! Mabel asked friends and they all raved about the Sinister Salon. “Be sure and ask for Mr. Sinister, he’s the owner and the best, in my opinion,” was what they said. So, she made an evening appointment for Wednesday next. She arrived a little early as she liked to get a feel for a salon before she went under the scissors, so to speak. “Ah, you must be Mabel Thornapple, my next appointment. I am Sin Sinister, the owner,” said a smooth voice from beside the chair she was reading in. She looked up and gasped. Tall, gorgeous and suave, Sin was a vampire like none other she’d ever met. For a moment, Mabel was speechless. Sin took her hand and kissed it. Mabel blushed, turning her skin puce. The stylist pretended not to notice. “I am enchanted to meet you; may I call you Mabel?” he went on as he ushered her to a styling chair. Mabel opened her mouth to say what she wanted, but Sin ignored her. “I hope that’s not a bad sign,” Mabel wondered. But once he began, she was in her idea of paradise. She was almost asleep, when she heard Sin say: “It’s perfect, take a look!” Mabel opened her eyes and stared at her reflection. When she began to screen Sin smiled: “I haven’t had a client screen in eons, thank you Mabel for the compliment!” |
