Hetty tries to make her usual Halloween ride. 300-word flash

A Witching We Will Go

Hetty Bulbousnose loved All-Hallows-Eve. She spent most of it flying through the night on her broom, Booce with her catly familiar called Sootytail. Just to make the night interesting, she dropped spiders and centipedes on unsuspecting children. They were made of edible jelly and flavored just right.
They had just taken off for their yearly fun, when Booce began to cough and sputter. Before Hetty could do anything, the broom and its riders began to fall precipitously toward the ground. They ended up in a weeping willow, tangled hopelessly.
“We are not getting anywhere,” Sootytail remarked from his seat on the top of the end of the broom. The cat was known to be a master of the obvious. Hetty gave him a sour as pickles look as she fished out her wand. Or tried to.

“Where is Grizellda?” she said loudly. Booce just rustled from the midst of the tree. The cat looked at her smugly from his perch.
“Did you forget it somewhere?” he asked as he watched her search her person frantically.
“That’s nonsense! I would never forget my wand!” Hetty snapped.
The cat eyed her skeptically. “Then you must have lost it,” he decided.

Hetty crossed her eyes at him. He crossed his eyes back. Booce with a mighty heave, freed himself from the trap of the tree and bounced upward.
“We better back track and check,” he said woodenly. There was nothing for it, but to do just that. With the occasional cough and sputter, the broom made it all the way back to the hovel.
There sitting on her spell making table, was Grizellda. Of course, Hetty was never live down the fact that she actually forgot her wand on Halloween, mostly because Sootytail wouldn’t let her do so!
