Mav, an old, grumpy German Shepard has to deal with a new puppy, Charlie. |
| Charlie was the new puppy, all fluffy golden fur and big brown eyes. Still unsteady on his paws, and whenever he wagged his tail it spun like the wings of a helicopter. He was adorable, and Mav hated him. Mav did not know why his humans decided to adopt a new puppy. He was already here, part of the family as he had always been. This puppy was unnecessary. And annoying, unnecessary and annoying. Charlie wanted to play constantly, nipping at his tail and ears, no matter how much Mav barked or growled the dumb puppy kept coming back. His humans, unfortunately, laughed whenever he tried to play. Mav tried to give them scolding looks for enjoying his misery, but they could care less. Today, Charlie was learning how to sit. And all Mav could do was watch this puppy getting treats for something so simple, something Charlie was still too dumb to understand. Soon, after a few more tries, the humans left Charlie to his own devices. And of course, he came over to Mav. ”Mav, Mav! What was that all about?” “I don’t know, kid. How about the most simple trick in the book.” ”Trick?” Charlie tilted his head. ”Yes, and you’re doing it wrong.” “What trick?” ”Sit, that means putting your ass on the ground and waiting for the treat. They’re giving you too many, for doing nothing.” Mav huffed. Charlie’s expression fell, “Mav, why don’t you like me?” Mav felt guilty at that moment. It’s hard to resist those sad eyes. ”It’s not that I don’t like you, I’m not used to you.” It rang true to Mav, he didn’t hate him. He was just unsure what to do with a puppy. Charlie brightened again, “okay good, can we play?” Mav sighed, this would take time. Notes ▶︎ |
