Hopelessly hoping

A week away,
a long flight,
a longer delay,
home at last.

The airport doors slide open,
heart trembling,
hoping against hope,
to see you there.

Faces, smiles, embraces,
so many loved ones,
But not you.
Not mine.

The ache settles deep,
a quiet, endless tear,
and still, somehow,
I hope.
