The Romans conquered Spain in 211 BC. The central and Southern parts of the Spanish peninsula became thoroughly Romanized and shared in the prosperity of the empire. The Roman empire began to disintegrate in the 5th century AD,the peninsula was left defenceless and , by AD467 had been conquered by the Visigoths, a romanized Germanic tribe. Their domination ended with the arrival of the Muslim Arabs (Moors) in AD 711.This aquaduct is used as a bridge.
