hogwarts has some new students....(a work in progress) read and enjoy! |
me and my friend sophie made this story a long time ago, and we are still working on it. please enjoy. Harry, Hermione, and Ron were walking on Hogwarts grounds on a sunny Saturday afternoon. âMan, Iâm tired,â yawned Harry widely. âWhen did you go to bed?â inquired Hermione. âAround one,â replied Harry. âHey,â he said suddenly, âdid you see the new girls? They are weirdâŠâ âWhat do you mean weird?â asked Ron. âWell,â said Harry thoughtfully,. âtheir earsâŠthey are more pointed than boxedâŠand their eyesâŠâ âYes?â said Hermione, pushing him to go on. As Harry opened his mouth to speak, Fred and George walked up. Hermione frowned a little; she was extremely curious about the schoolâs two new arrivals. âHey, donât forget we have quidditch practice, okay Harry?â said George, slapping Harry hard on the back. âYea,â said Fred. âWe have to meet our new captain anyway.â He lowered his voice and muttered, âHopefully itâs not an eccentric OliverâŠnot like Oliver wasnât eccentric, butâŠâ George and Harry burst into laughter. âHey, Fred, George,â Ron interrupted, âseen the new girls?â âNo,â George replied. âBut Iâve heard many whispers about them.â âI got a glimpse at them, but not a very good one,â spoke up Fred. âYeaâŠâ muttered George. The boys went into deep thought, each looking in a different direction with a slightly different expression. Hermione stood, looking at them. It was actually quite comical. âUm, Iâm going to go nowâŠâ said Hermione, seeing she was plainly wasting her time, and walked off. Harry began to walk, still deep in thought. All of a sudden, he bumped into something. Something that said âOof!â Coming back to reality, he found that he had walked straight into one of the new girls. She stumbled a bit and dropped 6 books. âCraaapâŠâ she muttered. âOh! Iâm soo sorry,â he apologized, and began to pick up her books. âItâs alright,â she assured him. âAt least itâs Saturday and not Monday; I hate Mondays.â âYea, me too,â Harry agreed. The girl bent down to help Harry with the books. After the last book was picked up off the floor, Harry stuck out his hand and said, âBy the way, Iâm Harry.â She looked at his hand and smiled. Shaking it, she replied, âIâm Macbeth.â Suddenly another girl Harry didnât know ran up to them. Judging by her ears, he figured she was one of the two new girls. âHey Aeris,â said Macbeth. Aeris fixed her eyes on Harry. Without shifting her gaze, she said, âMacbethâŠwe must go, it is urgentâŠâ Harry stared back, thoroughly confused. What language was she speaking? Apparently Macbeth spoke it too, because she replied, in the same language, âWhatâs wrong?â âI donât know, but Dumbledore wants us a.s.a.p.â Harry was thoroughly bewildered. He didnât understand a word they were speaking except for Dumbledore. Even then, he wasnât so sure they said that, because of their fast speech. Macbeth sighed irritably and replied, âAlright.â She turned to Harry and said (in English, much to his relief) âLater Harry.â She ran down the hall behind Aeris, but managed to wave good-bye to him, despite all of the books in her arms. Harry looked down and realized he was still holding one of her books. âWaitâŠâ he called out in a meek voice. She paused for a moment, turning to look at him, but Aeris turned back and pulled on her arm. She waved one last time, and turned the corner with Aeris. Harry stood there, confused. Ron walked up to Harry a few seconds later. âHey mate, whatâs up?â He noticed the look on Harryâs face and asked, âWhy do you look like that?â âNothing, I just met those strange girls. Odd, they started speaking a strange language and ran off.â âThat is oddâŠâ said Ron. [Dumbledoreâs Office] âWhy are we here Aeris?â asked Macbeth. âIâm not sure,â replied Aeris. âItâs just that Cloud sent an urgent message from Dumbledore.â âWell, where is he?â âIâm right here.â Dumbledoreâs chair turns dramatically to reveal Dumbledore seated in it. âWhat was it you wanted?â asked Aeris, going straight to the point. âI want to make sure you remembered our agreement.â Aeris bit her lip. âRefresh my memory.â Dumbledore turned to Macbeth. âMacbeth, do you?â âUmmâŠnot reallyâŠâ she said, a bit embarrassed. âWe have a lot on our minds Dumbledore, especially since the wizarding government called us to this dimension to help,â pointed out Aeris. âYes, I understand.â âWe are after all,â said Aeris, â2,000 some odd years!â âI want you to rememberâŠâ said Dumbledore. âYes?â asked Aeris. ââŠHere you are not elves. They do not exist in this time, in this place, only in memory. You are two normal 14-year-old witchesâŠwell, if thatâs considered normal.â Aeris paused before speaking. âSoâŠâ âTry not to speak too much Elvish,â advised Dumbledore, âand hide your ringsâŠhide them well, there are some very curious students in this school.â Aeris eyes widened. âAnd donât discuss your past with anyone at this school,â he cautioned. âEven the faculty and staff do not know this.â Her eyes widened even more. âThey believe the only elves that exist are house elves.â In a sudden rush of anger Aeris cried out, âHouse elves?????â âYou type are found only in a story based on one ring, which everyone believes is fiction even though it is fact, our history,â he explained calmly. âYou meanâŠthey think out father, King of MirkwoodâŠa story?â Aeris couldnât believe it. How could her beautiful home be considered a work of fiction? âYes, they do.â Aeris expression was a mixture of stunned and saddened. âWhat a worldâŠwithout our kind.â âTheyâre getting along fine,â assured Macbeth. âI told you we could trust Aragorn to lead mankind.â âThere are some in North America, but they are well-hidden and also pretend to be wizards or mugglesâŠsome have stayed here, in Europe,â he added. âAlright, we wonât speak of our past, butâŠcan we still play our instruments? And out stories and poems? Theyâll just think we really like that bookâŠâsaid Macbeth. âI want my daddy,â whimpered Aeris. Macbeth giggled, causing Aeris to pout. Dumbledore smiled. âYes, you may, as long as you remember that itâs based on a fictional book.â âAlright thank you..â said Macbeth softly. âIs that all?â âYes, you may go now.â Macbeth and Aeris left Dumbledoreâs office and began to talk. âI want my daddy right now,â said Aeris. âOh calm down. Look at this! Man built this! They canât be all bad by themselves if they can do this.â âManâŠugh,â muttered Aeris. âBesidesâŠâ said Macbeth with a smile, âthey have a new kind of âcuteâ hereâŠâ âThey are all the same, wanting to destroy the land for better âcommunitiesâ,â she growled darkly. âYouâre so negative,â remarked Macbeth, and ran off to find Harry. Aeris sighed, watching Macbeth run off, and wished aloud, âMichaelâŠI wish you were hereâŠâ She slowly walked away from the door. [Back to Harry and Ron] âWas she hot?â asked Ron curiously. âYeah,â said Harry. âShe had a nice body, they both did.â Hermione walked down a staircase, listening to them, and said, disgusted, âLook at you two. Youâre so shallow, andâŠugh!â Harry looked down at the floor. âAnd Ron,â she continued, âsince when have you used American slang?â âDonât be jealousâŠâ said Harry quietly. Hermione turned red. âIâŠI canât believe you two!â She turned around and ran off angrily, leaving the two boys alone. âHmm..â said Ron. âItâs amazing how MTV can make you use a different slangâŠâ âAhhâŠyou knowâŠMacbeth was really prettyâŠâ said Harry slowly. He shook his head and walked away. Ron was still pondering about the wonders of MTV when Seamus walked up. âHey, can you help me with the transfiguration homework?â he asked. Ron look at him. âYouâre asking me?â Seamus nodded. âWhy? You know Iâm horrible when it comes to transfiguration.â ââBecause I canât find anyone else to!!!â he protested. âOh, well, copy my homework, and if you fail, donât blame me. Itâs in my trunk. At least, I hope it isâŠâ âAh, never mind,â said Seamus as Ron ran off to look. [Library] Seamus walked in, and saw Aeris sitting at a table reading a big astrology book. He nervously walked up to her and asked, âEr, can you help me with my transfiguration homework?â Aeris sighed. âSureâŠwhatâs your name?â âS-S-SeamusâŠâhe stuttered. âHello Seamus, Iâm Aeris, let me see your paperâŠâ He handed her his parchment with a shaking hand. Aeris skimmed over it for a few seconds, then finished it in another five. Macbeth walked by and saw Aeris doing his homework. Aeris noticed her and quickly said, âYou want me to explain it to you?â Macbeth smiles, watching her explain to Seamus for a little while, then walked off. âOh Aeris,â she muttered to herself, âYou know I hate it when people cheatâŠyou always change your attitude about it when I catch you in the actâŠitâs so funny.â [Quidditch field] âSo...â said Fred, â whereâs our new captain?â âDunno, hope heâs not snitty though,â said George. (note: ask Logan about snitty) Harry sat on the bench quietly, not joining in Fred and Georgeâs questions and ridiculous answers. Angelina noticed Harryâs silence and asked what was wrong. He didnât respond. She began to get worried. âItâs nothing,â he finally said. âYou sure?â she asked. âEr, I donât think so,â said Alicia. âYea, itâs no problem.â âHey Harry!â called out an unseen voice. Turning around, he saw Aeris running over to then Gryffindor House team with Macbeth walking behind her. He realized that Macbeth had called out, and waved in response. âWho are you?â asked Fred. âOkay!â said Aeris. âI am your new coach! Coach Aeris! And this is sub-coach Macbeth!â Harryâs mouth opened in surprise. No one said anything. âSorry Iâm late!â she apologized. âCoach?â spoke up Macbeth. âUh-uh. Iâm not going to be called Coach. Iâm Assistant Captain.â Aeris giggled until Macbeth said, âIt sounds cooler.â Her eyes opened wide and she said, âYes. It doesâŠme too then!!!!â Macbeth, Angelina, and Katie began to giggle. Harry and George made âOh goodnessâ faces. Macbeth leaned over and whispered to Harry, âMaybe I should be Captain.â She winked at him. âUmm this is a surpriseâŠâ said Fred. âHm, well, letâs seeâŠI want everyone, when I call your name, to tell me your position,â said Aeris. âAngelina?â âChaser.â âKatie? Alicia?â âDitto,â Katie answered for both of them. She tossed the quaffle into the air and caught it. âOkayâŠcan you tell me who we are up against next gameâŠ?â asked Aeris, a little embarrassed. âHey, what about us?â asked Fred. âOkay, ummâŠyou two, the twinsâŠFredrick?â said Macbeth. âFRED,â he said angrily. âOh, sorry Fred. George?â âWeâre both beaters,â said Fred. Aeris giggled. âOkayâŠHarry?â Macbeth continued. Aeris suddenly stopped and turned her head sharply in his direction. âSeekerâŠâ Macbeth smiled. âOkay, well Iâm Macbeth, and Iâm a sub, so if one of you canât play, Iâm going to take you place. Otherwise, I just watch and yell at you from the sidelines.â âArghâŠletâs get started,â said Aeris, putting on a smile. âOh, sheâs the keeper (duh),â whispered Macbeth. âWeâre playing Hufflepuff first,â said Fred. Aeris scowled. âErâŠso whatâs the game plan?â âYOUâRE the Captain,â Katie pointed out. âOh!â said Aeris, and began to think hard. âI canât stand this. Weâre playing Ravenclaw first. Fred, donât give her a hard time, itâs her first day,â said Angelina. Aerisâs eyes widened. âFine,â Fred grumbled. âHmm,â said Aeris, beginning her game plan. âI say we beat them into the ground with our wild winging-it skills.â Macbeth giggled. Harry and George made the âOh goodnessâ faces again. âHey, un Aeris, is it?â asked Katie. âYahâŠâ âCan we practice? Iâve wanted to fly for a week.â Her eyes widened in embarrassment. âYes.â âGreat!â Katie walked off with Angelina and Alicia, chatting. Aeris grabbed her broom and started to fly after them. Harry began to follow them but stopped when Macbeth called out to him. âHuh?â he asked. âUmm I have no idea how to catch that thing itâs so smallâŠwhat if I break it?â said Macbeth timidly. âYou mean the snitch?â âYea. I can find it easily, but catching itâŠâ âItâs not delicate, itâs quick as lighting, thoughâŠitâs been used for a lot of years so Iâm sure you wonât break it,â Harry assured her with a smile. She smiled back gratefully. âWanna race?â asked Macbeth. âIâll get Aeris to let it loose.â âSureâŠâ âAERIS!â yelled Macbeth. Aeris turned to look at her. âCan you let out the snitch or whatever please?â âYou hussy,â Aeris grumbled softly. She let the snitch out, then- âGO!â Macbeth zoomed off, trying to forget about everything except catching the snitch. Flying closer and closer to the swift golden ball, she began to mutter, âPlease donât break, please donât break, please donât breakâŠâ Suddenly, Harry came out of nowhere, swirling around and grabbing the snitch. Macbeth gasped in her surprise. âDarn it!â she cried. âWell, she said, looking at Harry, âyouâve played this position longer then meâŠâ She heard Aerisâs distant laughter and yelled at her to shut up. Aeris just began to dance (as much of a dance as possible on a broomstick). She got even angrier when Harry began to laugh. âKatie, pass me the quaffle will ya?â asked Macbeth. Katie tossed over the quaffle to Macbeth, and she threw it as hard as she could at Aeris. âI feel better now,â she said, smiling wide. Aeris gave out a small âoomph!â and fell off her broom. âOops,â said Macbeth. Aeris screamed as she fell (which, thankfully, wasnât too far) and landed on the grass with a THUMP. âYou okay?â called out Fred. Macbeth flew down as fast as she could and quickly preformed an Elvish spell. âI hope Dumbledore doesnât find out,â Macbeth whispered. âBetter?â Everyone else flew down to see if Aeris was okay. To their amazement, she stood up and brushed the dust off of her clothes as if she had just fallen off the bed onto a pile of pillows. âIf looks could killâŠâ muttered Fred. Aeris was glaring daggers at Macbeth, who stupidly laughed and said, âMy bad!â Aeris said an Elvish curse under her breath, and Macbeth âeep!â-ed. âOkayâŠletâs get back to practiceâŠâ Everyone was amazed and slightly freaked out by Aerisâs reaction to the fall. âErrâŠâ said Harry. âUmm I gotta go I just remembered IâŠuhâŠhave toâŠdo my potions homework! Uh, so bye!â said Macbeth, and ran off before Aeris could hit her. [Lunch] âWhat is this?â muttered Macbeth. Aeris sniffed the food and recoiled. âI havenât got a clueâŠâ All she knew was that the minute she laid eyes on the meal she knew sheâd hate it. âWant some?â Aeris looked under the table and saw Macbeth holding out some lembras. She gladly took a large chunk of it. âCareful, I donât have that muchâŠâ cautioned Macbeth. âOhâŠâ Seamus walked up to them, and suddenly, Aeris stiffened up. Macbeth gave her an odd look. âHullo, who are you?â asked Macbeth. âIâm Seamus. Hullo Aeris,â he greeted. âHi Iâm Macbeth.â âHullo. You two are the new girls, huh?â Macbeth blinked in surprise and said, âY-yesâŠâ âI knew it,â he said, smiling. âUmm, okayâŠâ âOh,, thanks for helping me with the homework Aeris. Nice meeting you Macbeth,â he added, and walked off. âOh, it was Seamus you were helping,â said Macbeth with a wink. Aeris mouth hung open. Macbeth laughed and said, âJust kidding.â âI was just helping him with homework. Thatâs all.â âYes, thatâs good because I heard this girl named Lavender liked him.â Aeris eyes widened. âLetâs try some of this chicken stuffâŠâ said Macbeth. She took a bit of a chicken leg, chewed thoughtfully, and swallowed. âHmmâŠnot bad,â she commented, and served herself some more chicken and decided to add some potatoes. Aeris sniffed once more, and refused to try it. She contented herself with a cup of tea. [Gryffindor Common Room] âAhâŠâ Harry put his hand to his scar. It was burning; not excruciating pain, but not quite dull either. âDoâŠdo you think -You-Know-Who is near?â Ron asked worriedly. His face paled at the thought. âDonât knowâŠI hope not.â Hermione was still mad at Harry for their quarrel that afternoon and didnât say anything. She put all of her concentration into her book instead. âI-Iâm sure itâs nothingâŠâ Harry said. Hermione tried to block out their conversation, but it kept shattering her concentration like a nail through glass. She refused to forgive Harry. âI donât know, it started to sting a little bit when that Macbeth and Aeris were aroundâŠbut then it went away.â Hermione struggled harder not to listen. âButâŠitâs really hurting nowâŠâ Harry winced and grabbed at his forehead. âOH STOP IT! Itâs SO hard to be mad at you when your scar hurts!â cried out Hermione in frustration. Harry winced at the pain in his scar. âShould I tell someone?â asked Harry. âI donât know, tell Dumbledore,â said Hermione testily. And with that, she slammed her book shut and ran upstairs so she could be properly mad at Harry. âGirlsâŠthey are soo fickle,â thought Harry out loud. âTell me about it,â agreed Ron. âHer most of all.â âYahâŠâ Harry rubbed his forehead again. Ron sat in his chair and wondered about Hermione and her crankiness. Aeris and Macbeth entered the room. âI wanna playâŠâ whined Macbeth. âTelithiiy!! NAI NAI NAI!!!!â said Aeris rather loudly. Macbeth hit Aeris and hissed, âShut up!â Everyone turned to look at Aeris. âDonât speak Elvish, remember?â Macbeth reminded Aeris harshly. Aerisâs eyes widened. âErr, yahâŠjust practicing someâŠgibberishâŠâ She smiled, hoping people believed her. Macbeth put her face in her hands. âOh goodnessâŠâ she muttered. Aeris sat down in a chair, thoroughly embarrassed. âIâll go get my harpâŠâ muttered Macbeth, and hurried up the stairs. [Dormitory] Hermione was sitting on her bed, reading a book. Or, at least, trying to. She was still a bit put off with Harry and Ron. Ginny was also in the room, relaxing. Macbeth entered the room, and recognized the girl she met in the library while spying on Aeris and Seamus. Her hair seemed even fierier here, surrounded by red and gold sheets. âHey Macbeth!â Ginny said cheerfully. âHi. Ginny, is it?â Ginny nodded. âWhatâs up?â She suddenly realized that she didnât know the name of the girl reading. âOh hullo! Havenât met you yet! Iâm Macbeth, whatâs your name?â Ginny smiled and shook her head. âWha-?â Hermione looked up at Macbeth. âOh hello Macbeth. Iâm Hermione.â Macbeth began to rummage through her overly-stuffed trunk. She finally took out a lap harp with levers on all of the strings. It was made of beautiful rich Iroko, and had Celtic designs on its frame. Ginny squealed. âOoohh!!! Macbeth!! Teach me how to play the harp!! Please?â âHuh? Oh, sure, lemmie just warm upâŠcâmon, Iâm going downstairsâŠâ She began to walk towards the door, but stopped and turned around. âHey, is Harry single?â Macbeth asked without a bit of shyness. âHeâs kinda cute.â Hermione, who had gone back to reading, looked up, shocked. âYeah!â said Ginny excitedly. Her eyes widened, remembering something. âI donât knowâŠI THINK heâs takenâŠâ she said softly. âBy who?â âEr, umâŠummâŠâ Ginny looked up at the ceiling. âIâll back off if he is,â said Macbeth indifferently. âI saw another blond hottie in the hall earlier.â Ginny couldnât contain herself. âHERMIONE.â Macbeth almost dropped the harp. Hermione gasped. âShut up! Thatâs not true!â âSorryâŠitâs not trueâŠâ said Ginny, ashamed. "I wish it wasâŠI thinkâŠ" muttered Hermione softly, thinking no one could hear. Ginny heard this comment, and was extremely surprised that Hermione would almost share her secret with someone she just met. âUh, whatâs the blondeâs name?â asked Macbeth in hopes of changing the subject. âHis hair is all sleek and shinyâŠhe hangs around with these two big doltsâŠa crab and doyle? Moyle? âGoyle,â answered Hermione automatically. âMALFOY?â shrieked Ginny. She almost fainted. âWaitâŠwhat?!â said Hermione loudly, slightly confused. âHis name is Malfoy? Weird first nameâŠwell, then again, soâs Macbeth, soâŠâ âHis first name is Draco,â said Hermione. Her voice trembled at the surprise and shock of this fatal attraction. âOoooooh,â said Macbeth, obviously very happy. Ginny managed to contain herself. âLordie lordieâŠâ she muttered. âWhatâs wrong?â asked Macbeth. âUrmâŠâ said Hermione, biting her lip. âLetâs go upstairsâŠâ suggested Ginny. âIâll stay up here,â said Hermione. âK,â acknowledged Ginny, still slightly out of it. She decided to change the subject. âI heard Seamus likes that new girl you hang out with.â âOoooâŠ.Aeris,â said Macbeth. She laughed. âOh sheâs gonna LOVE thisâŠletâs go tell her!â she said, excited. She cracked an evil grin. âYou know,â Hermione said, âyou remind me a bit of Fred and George.â âReally?â Ginny gave Hermione a âwhat are you talking about?!â look. (note: ask Logan about -.-?!) âJust a bitâŠâ Macbeth shrugged. âWell, shall I teach you the harp?â proposed Macbeth, turning to Ginny. âOkay!â she agreed. They began to walk downstairs. [Gryffindor Common Room] âYou speak gibberish?â Ron asked Aeris. âQuite fluently actually,â she replied. She said a few phrases in Elvish, convincing Ron that she could speak gibberish. âHmmmâŠâ he said. Macbeth and Ginny appeared on the steps, Macbeth carrying her harp. âGot it,â she said cheerfully. âFinallyâŠâ muttered Aeris. âIâm gonna teach Ginny, okay?â Seamus and Neville entered the room at that moment. âYou wanna play a quick something after I warm up and remember how to play?â suggested Macbeth to Aeris. âOkayâŠâ said Aeris slowly, eyes widening when she saw who had just entered the room. Macbeth quickly preformed a few scales and played through Dona Nobis Pacem before giving Aeris the harp. âHere ya go.â Macbeth turned to Seamus and tried desperately not to laugh. âH-hi S-seam-musâŠâ âYou guys play the harp?â asked Neville. âYup,â answered Macbeth. Aeris gulped nervously and proceeded to practice her scales. âHi Seamus,â she greeted with a smile. Macbeth raised her eyebrows, and Aeris whispered something under her breath. Harry watched Aeris and Macbeth practice intently. âCan you sing with that thing or is it hard with the weight?â asked Ron. âDepends,â answered Macbeth. âI suppose you can, but Aeris and I do mostly duetsâŠâ Aeris smiled widely and said, âHehe, letâs do one now!â âCan I sing this time?â asked Macbeth. âYou did last time.â Aeris pouted a bit, but then changed her mind and smiled. âK.â Positioning her fingers, she began a slow gentle song. âO mĂŽr henion i dhĂ»: Ely siriar, ĂȘl sĂla Ai! AnĂron Undomiel. Tiro! Ăl eria e mĂŽr I 'lir en ĂȘl luitha 'urenâŠâ Aerisâs eyes began to tear at the edges. She remembered this song. âAi! AnĂronâŠâ finished Macbeth. Hermione was standing at the stairs, listening. WowâŠshe thought. âAh, excuse meâŠâ said Aeris. She put the harp down and went upstairs. âWhoaâŠâ Fred whispered. Harry sat there, confused and suspicious. âI think thereâs more going on than meets the eyesâŠâ Harry muttered to himself. âWas that, erm, gibberish or something..??â asked Ron awkwardly. âThat sounded like Elvish to me,â said Neville, âfrom The Lord of the Rings.â Macbeth freaked out a little. âYea, we love that book!â She laughed nervously. Harry got up and went upstairs to sleep. âNight Harry!â Ron told him. All of a sudden, Aeris bounced down the stairs. âTELITHIIY!!!!â Everyone looked at her. She realized what she had just done. âWhat??â she asked. âPeople who donât know gibberishâŠâ she muttered loudly. Hopefully they believed that she was simply put off that not many people spoke gibberish. âTelithiiy?â whispered Macbeth so only Aeris could hear. âItâs stuck in my head.â She whispered back. âLook, they figured out we know Elvish, now remember, we just really like Lord of the Rings.â âIâm gonna go into the forest and visit BainâŠâ Aeris told her. âK, namarie.â Macbeth turned to Ginny. âSoâŠhow about a lesson, Ginny?â âAh, yes,â said Ginny. Macbeth began to explain the properties and rules of the harp to Ginny. âOhh, this is so fun!â said Ginny. Macbeth smiled. âOkay, so play âdoâ for me.â âHow do you all know Elvish so well?â asked Ginny, trying to find the correct string. Macbeth turned red. âUhâŠwe-we saw the movies andâŠread the books and weâŠwe became BIG fanatics! I took some classes at a nearby college with AerisâŠthey have Tolkien cults there, ya knowâŠâ âOhhh!â Ginny paused. âA college?â âYea.â âIn the human college?â âHuman?â asked Macbeth. âYou mean muggle, right?â Ginny gave Macbeth a blank stare. âYeahâŠwhoa, where did âhumanâ come from?â âUhâŠI dunno!â She had a grave expression, but quickly went back to her happy self. âNow letâs get to work! Play me a âdoâ,â she instructed with a smile. âK.â She played a Do. âYay! Youâre doing good!â Macbeth clapped, and Ginny turned red and beamed. Suddenly she lowered her voice and said, âCan I ask you something?â âYes?â âHow do you have pointy ears?â She was silent for a moment, then replied, âGenes.â Ginnyâs eyes widened a bit, plainly saying, âOh!â âManâŠIâm tired,â said Ginny, trying to leave an awkward situation. Macbeth yawned. âYea.â âWell gânight,â said Ginny, going upstairs. âNightâŠ,â called Macbeth. âI should go to bed too,â she said to herself, yawning. She tried to get up, but found that she couldnât. âUh, I should move that harp first, huhâŠâ She attempted to move it, but all of her strength had left her. âWhy...am...I...so...tire-â She never finished her thought, because she fell into a deep sleep. [Forbidden Forest] âHello Aeris,â greeted Bain the centaur. âWhat brings you here?â âCame to visit youâŠdo you have any news on Voldemort?â âThe stars are beautiful tonightâŠbut it is unusually cloudy to nightâŠI did not predict thisâŠâ Aeris looked up and muttered under her breath something about âback homeâ. Bain turned to look at her. âHm?â âI said, âthe stars are much clearer and beautiful back homeâŠâ âI havenât been there in centuriesâŠhas it changed at all since I last cam to visit you?â âNoâŠitâs still as beautiful as ever.â âWhy are you here?â he asked. âYou havenât been here since you were bornâŠâ âDark times are ahead, if âheâ is not stopped you knowâŠâ she replied. â I seeâŠâ âHmmâŠâ All of a sudden, she looked at Bain, alarmed. âDo you not smell the blood in the Air?â âYou know I cannot.â Aeris sighed. âThis world is so cold, so unopenâŠâ âHumans have multipliedâŠcovered this EarthâŠâ Aeris wiped imaginary dust off of her cape. âYou should be getting back,â said Bain. âItâs getting late, and they donât want students out at night, especially here.â âYes,â agreed Aeris. âNumarie BainâŠâ âNumarie, and be carefulâŠâ [The following morning in Macbeth and Aerisâs dormitory] Macbeth and Aeris woke with a yawn. âWhat time is it?â She looked at the clock. It glowed 10:00 in bright green letters. Aeris eyes widened. âGOOD LORD! AERIS, WHAT DAY IS IT??â yelled Macbeth, highly alarmed. âUmm, mars? Vendredi?â Macbeth stared at her. âA Friday in March?â âMercredi? Sacre bleau!â âWhy are you speaking French?â asked Macbeth. Aeris thwacked her head. âGood LordâŠI had a good dream,â she said, sighing dreamily. Macbeth jumped up. âThatâs lovely, but itâs Sunday, its 10, and Iâm starving.â âDâArvit...â muttered Aeris. She rolled out of bed with a thunk. âIâm surprised you didnât go to greet the sun again like you do every morning at home.â Aeris blinked. âOh dearâŠâ âThis realm sure makes you lazy,â commented Macbeth. âHey, this world is a lot slower than ours too,â grumbled Aeris. âWhatever!â said Macbeth. Fully dressed, she headed down the stairs. Suddenly, she stopped. âPooeyâŠpooeyâŠwhere is my shirt?â Macbethâs eyes widened. âHow did IâŠâ All of a sudden, Aerisâs eyes began to bulge, but Macbeth was too confused to notice. âIâŠI-I wasâŠI donât get itâŠhow didâŠunlessâŠbut who?!â âLordie, your mind is hurting me! Stop IT!â cried out Aeris. âB-but, butâŠâ âSTOOOP!!!!!!!â yelled out Aeris. âI fell asleep in the Common Room yesterday! I never came upstairs! I was too tired!â said Macbeth, still too freaked out to listen to Aeris very much. Aeris blinked back tears. âHow did I get here? In my pajamas, none the less!!â Macbeth ran to the trunk and opened it. âLET GO OF MY MIND!!!â screamed Aeris. That brought Macbeth back out of her confused and scared thoughts. She dropped the top of her trunk in surprise. âW-what are you talking about?â Aeris cringed. Macbeth quickly opened the trunk and saw her harp, safe and sound. âOh thank goodnessâŠâ Aeris began to sob. Macbeth closed the trunk and walked over to Aeris. âAre you okay?!â âSTOP IT!!â Macbeth stopped in her tracks. She gasped. âA-are you talking to me?â Aeris fainted. Macbethâs eyes widened in fear, and she bolted down the stairs. [Gryffindor Common Room] Harry, Hermione, and Ron were the only ones there. âYou guys! Help! Something is wrong with Aeris!â âWhat happened?â asked Hermione. âS-sheâŠshe kept talking about someone in her mind or somethingâŠand then she started cryingâŠthen sheâŠshe just fainted.â âWhere is she??â asked Harry. Macbeth was extremely pallid. âU-upstairsâŠI didnât know what to do.â âCome on!â said Harry. [Staircase] âButâŠare we allowed to go upstairs?â asked Ron. âTo the girlsâ dormitory?â He gulped. âErâŠâ said Harry, but he kept running. âIâll go tell Dumbledore thenâŠhe oughta know, right?â âI supposeâŠâ said Macbeth, panting. âRight,â said Harry. Ron turned around and ran towards Dumbledoreâs office. âWhat exactly happened??â asked Harry. âI told you!â said Macbeth. Harry frowned in concern and worry. âWhat, you donât believe me?â âI hope Ron hurriesâŠI believe you.â Macbeth look doubtful. âHere we are.â She tried to open the door. âItâs locked!â She cried out in anger and fear, and kicked the door. âWHA??â said Harry, quite alarmed. âCalm down Macbeth,â soothed Hermione. âAlohamora!â Nothing happened. âWhat? It didnât work!â Hermione cried in disbelief. âWHAT IS GOING ON?â yelled Harry. âI donât know!â said Macbeth in a high voice. âLetâs try all at once, maybe that will work,â suggested Hermione. âOkâŠâ said Harry. He began to count aloud. âOneâŠtwoâŠTHREE!â âALOHAMORA!â The door burst open, and Macbeth ran in. âThank goodness,â said Harry. Then he saw Aeris lying down on the floor. He knelt down next to her. Hermione followed suit. âIs she breathing?â âYes,â said Hermione. Macbeth squeaked. They both looked up at her. âSorry,â she said in a small voice. âWhere is Ron??â wondered Harry aloud. âHe must still be getting Dumbledore,â said Hermione. Harry shook Aeris, hoping it would wake her. âErr, wake upâŠ!â he said lamely. Aeris said nothing, still unconscious. Macbeth put her face in her hand. âI could have done thatâŠâ Suddenly her eyes began to bulge. Aeris was still unconscious. âOw...owâŠOW...â said Macbeth. Aeris eyes opened. âSacre bleauâŠâ she whispered. Her eyes widened when she saw Macbeth, and she sat up quickly. âOWâŠI seeâŠOwâŠwhat you meantâŠOWâŠAerisâŠâ she whimpered. âMACBETH!â cried out Aeris. Macbeth squeezed her eyes shut. Aeris looked at Harry. Macbeth squeaked. She slowly got louder. Aeris stood up, but she was still rather wobbly. Hermione turned white and began to shake. âWhatâs happening?!â Macbeth began to scream. âMacbeth! Donât fight it,â advised Aeris. Macbeth staggered back, clutching at her head. She fell to her knees and began to scream a long string of words in various unknown languages. Her voice changed pitches often, going from low to high, then her regular voice. She craned her neck back so her face was looking towards the ceiling. Aeris shook violently with fear. And suddenly, as fast at it started, she stopped, and her body relaxed. âIs it gone???â asked Aeris. Macbeth got up. âI have a headache,â she moaned. âWhoa!â she cried as she almost fell, catching herself. She giggled. âYea, itâs goneâŠjust a killer headacheâŠseriously.â Aeris caught on to Macbethâs explanation. âYeah, bloody headachesâŠâ She siddled out of the room. (note: ask Logan what siddled means) Hermione looked at Harry doubtfully. âHeadache? Somehow I donât think soâŠâ she whispered to him. âHmmmâŠâ said Harry, frowning. âItâs true,â assured Macbeth. âGenetics. They suck huh? Kinda like the things Harriet Tubman had except we got no blow to the head and we donât black out as often. We also get them a lot less often.â âAeris fainted,â pointed out Harry bluntly. âOkay,â said Macbeth, âWell I havenât fainted yet.â âAre you sure thatâs normal?â asked Harry. âMy mom did once, come to think of itâŠâ said Macbeth. Turning to Harry and acknowledging his question, she answered, âItâs not, but then again, define normal.â Aerisâs head popped back through the edge of the open door. âMACBETH.â âYes?â asked Macbeth, in a syrupy-sweet way. Her smile was enough to give Aeris a cavity. âI think WE SHOULD GO,â said Aeris, giving her a cold look. She secretly winked at Macbeth. Macbeth looked at her weirdly. âOooookayâŠlater guys, and thanks a lot. I always freak out when the headaches come, âcause thereâs no way of getting rid of them except by, like, waitingâŠâ And with that, Macbeth and Aeris left a very freaked out Harry and Hermione. [In the corridors] Walking through the corridors, Macbeth and Aeris discussed what had just happened. âOnce upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary...,â muttered Macbeth happily, practically skipping. Very odd behavior for someone who had just had a killer headache, but then again, it was Macbeth. âWe should tell Dumbledore immediately,â said Aeris. âHm?â Macbeth looked over at Aeris. âOh, Ron already went.â She continued to recite: âOver many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore-â âWe never had headaches like that before!! I think its serious!!!â cried out Aeris in frustration. âWeâve never had headaches before period, remember?â âAll the same but THAT WAS PAINFUL!!!â Aeris sighed. âAlright, weâll go, but can we eat first? Iâm really hungry.â Macbeth was really amazingly unperturbed by the whole affair. âIâm not hungryâŠâsaid Aeris wearily. âIâll be in the library.â âOky doky thenâŠdo I call ya when I go to Dumbledoreâs Office?â asked Macbeth. âSure,â said Aeris. âK.â They separated, each going to their own personal destinations. [Library] Aeris rubbed her temples and sighed. The headacheâs aftershock just didnât want to go away. Ron came up to her slowly, noticing her discomfort. âYouâre up!â he said, evidently surprised. âUrmâŠDumbledore want to see you and Macbeth in his office.â Aeris groaned. âBloodyâŠbloodyâŠHellâŠâ She turned to Ron, who had on an apologetic expression. She suddenly felt a pang of guilt. âOh, k, thanks Ron.â âErâŠfeel better?â âYes, a bit.â âThatâs good.â There was a very awkward pause. âWell, I go nowâŠbyeâŠâsaid Aeris, getting up to find Macbeth. âByeâŠâ [Great Hall] âCome on Macbeth, we need to go to Dumbledoreâs office,â said Aeris, running in and skidding to a stop in front of Macbeth. There was a strong tone of urgency in her voice. Macbeth looked around to see if anyone had heard Aerisâs message. The Hall was mercifully deserted. âAlright,â said Macbeth, getting up. Together they ran to Dumbledoreâs Office. [Dumbledoreâs Office] Aeris and Macbeth stood before Dumbledore, awaiting his questions. They were unusually uncomfortable. âSo,â he began, âI heard you got unusually strong âheadachesâ.â âUhâŠummâŠâ said Macbeth. âHm...â said Aeris, attempting to sort out her thoughts. Dumbledore leaned towards them. âWhat really happened?â Aeris looked at Macbeth, and Macbeth looked at Aeris. âYou got it first,â pointed out Macbeth timidly. Aeris took a deep breath and tried to remember everything. âAt first it was like a keening (note: ask Logan what keening means)âŠthen it grew to screamsâŠlike my whole body was being ripped apart. Everything was blood-stained.â Dumbledoreâs eyes widened. âReally?â Macbeth interrupted. âMine was different.â Dumbledore turned to Macbeth. âHow so?â Aeris stared silently at the floor. âWell, I felt a pulsing in my head, and it got biggerâŠlikeâŠif you get a cut or bruise or somethingâŠor you get a bump on the headâŠit slowly gets bigger.â Aeris said nothing. âI heard a voice after that,â Macbeth continued. âIt sounded oddly familiarâŠit was in another language. Then there were two saying the same thing, so I yelled back at it, but instead if English, French, or Elvish, something else came out. Then it just left.â Aeris muttered something. âAnd it left me with a killer headacheâŠya got any aspirin?â added Macbeth. Dumbledore leaned back against his chair. âUse your magic,â suggested Aeris quietly. âAnd risk making my headache bigger? No way.â Aeris didnât respond. âI wonder why thing were different for the two of you,â said Dumbledore. âDumbledore,â said Aeris, âyou may have already heard this somewhereâŠbut I feel a shadow of a threat in my mindâŠitâs scaring me.â âDid you two grow up in different places?â asked Dumbledore. He leaned in again. âYes, we did,â answered Aeris. âWhat were they?â inquired Dumbledore. âI grew up in MirkwoodâŠâsaid Aeris. âAnd MacbethâŠâ âI grew up in two places,â interjected Macbeth. âThey kept switching me for some reason, between Lothlorien and Rivendell. I stayed at Gondor for a year as wellâŠâ âAh...â said Aeris. âDo you think that may have to do with the way whatever happened effected you two?â asked Dumbledore. âMinas TirithâŠOsgiliathâŠhmmâŠâwhispered Aeris. âAnd about this threatâŠwhat do you sense?â he continued. âDumbledore, could itâŠbeâŠlike a sixth senseâŠsomethingâs comingâŠor already here, something hidden in the shadowsâŠâ Macbeth look at Aeris worriedly. âLike a predator after itâs preyâŠa fearâŠâ she continued softly. âThatâs what you get for hanging out with Legolas for so longâŠyou get his senseâŠâ said Macbeth. Aeris lowered her head so that her hair concealed her face. âOh!â said Macbeth, suddenly remembering something. âI fell asleep at a couch in the Common Room with my harp on me, and I woke up in my bed with the harp in the trunk.â âReally?â commented Dumbledore. âUhâŠyea,â she said uncomfortably. âDo you know who moved you?â he asked. âNo ideaâŠâ Macbeth stopped. She heard a light snoring noise. Turning around, she saw that Aeris was sleeping sanding up. She hit Aeris on her arm. âOomph!â Aeris looked around wildly. âWoh! Alright! Yes the STAIRS!â Macbeth looked at Aeris. ââŠ.Stairs? Stairs? What are you talking about?â âOhh, nothingâŠâ she said. Changing the subject, she asked, âWho do you think couldâve moved you?â âNoooooooooo idea.â Aeris frowned. âWas anyone else there?â asked Dumbledore. âI-I donât rememberâŠâstammered Macbeth. âConfound it allâŠâ muttered Aeris darkly. âWell, thank you, I supposeâŠyou may go nowâŠâ [Corridor outside Dumbledoreâs Office] âNow what?â asked Macbeth. âI donât know, itâs strange,â answered Aeris. âSoooâŠumâŠâ âNo one in this realm should be powerful enough to tap into our minds!â said Aeris, slightly hysterical. âReally? You think so? That Voldemort guy sounds strongâŠâ âUh, puleez, nothing can stand against us manâŠheâs probably just a cheap fakie,â said Aeris confidently. (note: ask Logan about the word fakie) Macbeth looked at Aeris oddly. âPULEEZ? Did you just say puleez?â Aerisâs eyes widened. âI think I didâŠâ she said, a mixture of amazed and appalled filling her voice. Macbeth started to laugh like a maniac. âAERIS SAID PULEEZ! AERIS SAID PULEEZ!â Aeris stomped her foot. âNOT FUNNY.â Macbeth began to sing her little chant over and over. Aeris reached over and smacked Macbethâs arm as hard as she could. She giggled. âOkay okay.â Macbeth stuck out her tongue. âYouâre just mad because you let your guard down and said a Human slang word.â âI gotta be careful. Next thing I know I will be liking it here.â âWhatever,â said Macbeth. âI have made no such promise to myself or to anyone else. Iâm gonna try and enjoy myself as much as possible.â âHmmâŠâ said Aeris. âI canât wait to get back home!â she exclaimed. âAh, well, I could use a break from all of that warâŠâ mused Macbeth. âThe Third Age isnât exactly the most peacefulâŠâ âI guessâŠâ replied Aeris. âSoâŠnow what?â asked Macbeth. âI donât think Harry and Hermione believed my story on our headaches.â She smiled and crossed her arms. âI dunnoâŠfor our sake of secrecy I hope so,â said Aeris. âHa,â laughed Macbeth. âI doubt it. Havenât you heard the stories? Those three are quite the little detectivesâŠâ Aeris looked at Macbeth. âLooks like we will just have to be careful then wonât we?â Macbeth smiled. âYes, I suppose we will.â [Gryffindor Common Room] Harry, Ron, and Hermione were sitting in the Common Room, quietly discussing what happened. âSomehow I donât think that was just a headache,â said Hermione skeptically. âIt was really weird,â agreed Harry. âWhat happened?â asked Ron. [Gryffindor Common Room] Harry, Ron, and Hermione were sitting in the Common Room, quietly discussing what happened. âSomehow I donât think that was just a headache,â said Hermione skeptically. âIt was really weird,â agreed Harry. âWhat happened?â asked Ron. âWell...â said Hermione uncertainly. She rubbed her arms, as if she was cold, even though they were sitting next to the fire. âHmmâŠwhat if we just ask them?â suggested Ron. âWhat if we do some researchâŠon elves?â said Harry mysteriously. âElves?â said Hermione curiously. âYes,â replied Harry. âWhy Elves?â asked Ron. âIsnât it obvious?â Hermione thought hard, but nothing came to mind. Ron, however, skipped the thinking and went straight to the point. âWhat? Not really, clue me in mate!â âThey have pointy earsâŠâ âSo?â said Ron. âGinny told me they were genes, she asked them already.â âTheir alluringness!â continued Harry. âWe donât know anything about them besides that they are new at Hogwarts.â âThat is true,â said Hermione. âSee what I mean?â said Harry. âBut, Harry, Elves? Why Elves?â asked Ron. âI dunno, I have a hunch,â he replied. âHarry, I see what you mean,â said Hermione, âbut Elves donât exist!â âI know, I knowâŠâ Harry sighed. âIâm not sure then.â âThere are so many kinds of Elves,â reasoned Hermione. âTheyâve been around for centuriesâŠHouse-Elves, the Elves in Lord of the Rings-â âLord of the Rings?â interrupted Ron. âItâs a trilogy written by J.R.R. Tolkien,â she explained. âYes, Iâve read that,â said Harry. âI have too, its really good, but really long,â said Hermione. âIt seems soo ironic,â mused Harry. âLike they just stepped out of the pages.â âYeaâŠbutâŠitâs not realâŠright?â asked Hermione. There was a long silence. âWhat ifâŠâ began Ron. âWhat if it is?â âOh donât be ridiculous Ron, itâs not,â snapped Hermione. âIt canât beâŠâ Despite herself, she began to believe this impossible theory. She struggled to find a reason, any reason, to prove that it was just that, impossible. âLots of things are possible in the wizarding world,â said Harry. âBut,â she said desperately, âJ.R.R. Tolkien made it up! He made it up! HeâŠâ She trailed off. âOr did he?â said Harry darkly. Ron put a hand on Hermioneâs shoulder comfortingly. âHermione, itâs possibleâŠâ Hermione put her face in her hands. There was another silence. âOkayâŠâ Hermione said at last, voice shaking a bit. âLets say it isâŠwhere would we research this?â âWhere else?â said Harry. âThe Simarillion.â Hermioneâs eyes widened. âOf courseâŠâ she whispered. âLetâs get started,â said Harry. Hermione suddenly dashed upstairs, and returned a few minutes later with a large stack of books. âWHOA!â said Ron, eyes as round as saucers. âDo we really need all of them?â asked Harry as she dumped them onto the table. Hermione grinned. âUnbeknownst to you, I happed to own every books related to Lord of the Rings. I brought them from home. I had a feeling I would need them.â âOh,â said Harry. Ron groaned. âSo many booksâŠso bigâŠâ He picked up one of the books and flipped through the pages. âSuch little printâŠâ He dropped it onto the table. Groaning, he closed his eyes and leaned back into the chair. Harry, on the other hand, eagerly picked up the book Ron put down and started at the beginning. And so Harry, Hermione, and Ron worked tediously throughout the rest of the afternoon, only stopping to say a few important or interesting notes aloud or to ask what a certain Elvish word meant. After three long hours, Ron said, âIâm hungry.â âMe too,â said Harry, putting down the book he was reading. Hermione checked her watch. âWeâve been reading for three hours now,â she stated. Harry sighed. âWe havenât even found anything yet!â I suppose we should go down for dinnerâŠ" said Hermione, her voice reflecting her weariness. "YeahâŠ" agreed Harry. "Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!!" Ron jumped up and did a silly superhero pose, looking as if he expected to go off flying. Hermione giggled, and Ron and Harry began to laugh. As they were walking down to the Great Hall, Harry started to hum The Eye of the Tiger. "It's the eye of the tigerâŠ" he sang, his voice horribly off key. Ron was laughing so hard tears were streaming down his face. He had to stop and hold on to the wall for support. Hermione smiled and shook her head. "Come on guys, its getting late, and I'm hungry too." After a few minutes, Ron calmed down, and they arrived at the Great Hall. [Great Hall] Harry, Ron, and Hermione walk towards the Gryffindor table and saw Aeris and Macbeth already eating. Aeris was picking at her sandwich. Macbeth rolled her eyes and took a big bite of hers. "Hey guys!" greeted Hermione, sitting down next to Aeris. Harry sat down next to Hermione. " 'Ello 'IrmioneâŠ" said Aeris, her mouth full of sandwich. Ron sat down next to Macbeth and rubbed his hands together. "So, what's to eat?" he said, obviously eager to stuff his face. "HmmâŠ'andweeshes," said Aeris. Hermione took a ham sandwich, and Harry took a peanut butter sandwich. "SoâŠ" said Aeris rather awkwardly. Macbeth swallowed her bite. "YeaâŠ" She turned to Ron, and her eyes widened in amazement as he began to take two of each kind of sandwich. Aeris laughed. "Can't wait till our first game!" she said. "Who are you playing?" asked Hermione. "Ravenclaw," said Macbeth. "They should be a cinch," said Aeris confidently. "I dunno, they're really good," said Ron doubtfully. "Ah, don't be such a party pooper," said Macbeth teasingly. "Trust me, Gryffindor is the best!" assured Aeris. Ron was too busy eating to answer her back. Macbeth looked at Harry. "Harry, you're rather quiet, is everything alright?" she asked. "Yea, just a bit tired," he answered. Macbeth frowned in concern. "Why? We haven't even started classes yet." Harry yawned. "I dunno." He hoped that she believed him. Macbeth's eyes narrowed disbelievingly, but she didn't say anything. While Harry, Hermione, and Ron ate, Aeris leaned towards Macbeth and whispered in Elvish, "Macbeth, what do you think is up with Harry?" " I think they've found somethingâŠmaybe they're on our trail," she whispered back. Hermione side-glanced at Aeris. Were they speaking Elvish? "We better be careful," whispred Aeris. Yes, it was Elvish. She recognized the word we: lye. Her eyes narrowed. Yes, it was Elvish. She recognized the word we: lye. Her eyes narrowed. Harry and Ron saw her _expression and stopped eating to look at her. Macbeth and Aeris noticed their actions, and there was an awkward silence. Hermione cleared her throat. âU-umâŠIâm doneâŠIâm going up toâŠto finish my homeworkâŠâ She gave Harry and Ron a meaningful glance. âSee ya.â She put down her half-eaten sandwich and left the Hall. Aeris wiped her mouth with her napkin. âYah, Iâm gonna go to the libraryâŠsee ya later.â She got up and left. âOkayâŠsee ya,â Macbeth replied quietly. She turned to Harry. âHey Harry, I need to ask you something.â âWhat is it?â said Harry. âHave you seen my book? Iâm missing one. Maybe you found it when we first met; I think I had it then,â said Macbeth. âHmmâŠ," thought Harry, âI think so. What was it called?â âUm, I think it was Return of the King, by J.R.R. Tolkien.â âYeah, I got it,â said Harry. âLet me go get it for you.â Macbeth smiled gratefully. âThank you Harry.â Harry got up, left the Hall and headed towards Gryffindor Tower. [Corridors] Harry began to hum Eye of the Tiger again. âItâs the eye of the tigerâŠâ Return of the King, Return of the KingâŠdid he have it? He wasnât so sure he had it nowâŠWait a minute, Return of the King? Written by J.R.R. Tolkien? Wasnât he, Hermione, and Ron just discussing that? Didnât that have elves in it? And come to think of it, Hermione had a weird look on her face, as if she remembered somethingâŠAnd wasnât Macbeth singing in Elvish that one day in the Common Room? Harry tried to remember what the two girls had said at the table⊠Lye⊠We⊠Another Elvish word! MaybeâŠjust maybeâŠhis theory was correct. He quickened his pace to Gryffindor Tower. Walking around the corner, he heard an soft muffled noise. He slowed down instinctively. Listening closer, he heard an odd noise, like someone was making noises with their teeth or somethingâŠTurning the corner, he saw Seamus and Aeris kissing. His eyes widened, and he turned around and ran away, hoping they didnât notice him. [Gryffindor Common Room] Harry raced up the stairs, feeling both eager (due to his recent revelation) and slight fear and disbelief (due to Aeris and Seamusâs snogging). Entering his dormitory, he ran over to his bookbag and began to look through its contents. Ah ha, he thought, finding it. He opened up the book and looked at the first page. He saw an untidy scrawl in a language he didnât recognize. He quickly compared it to the writing on the cover page, and was almost sure it was Elvish. If only Hermione could see it⊠Hesitating, he stuffed the book back into the bag, hoisted it up onto his shoulder, and walked down the stairs, wondering what to tell Macbeth. Unfortunately for him, Macbeth had apparently been waiting for him at the bottom of the stairs. âHey Harry!,â she said brightly. âI finished dinner, and I thought Iâd save you some walking.â âOh, sorry,â stammered Harry, not expecting to have to come up with a reason so soon. âI canât seem to find it. I mightâve mistaken it for a library book!â he finished quickly, hoping she believed him. âOh,â said Macbeth, obviously very disappointed. âWell, thatâs alright, I suppose Iâll go ask someone elseâŠyou tried your bestâŠâ âHope you find it,â he said, hoping to compensate. âI hope so too,â she murmured. âSee ya.â She walked away and sat in front of the fire. Harry dashed off to find Hermione. At the same time, Aeris and Ginny entered the Common Room. Aeris plopped herself down in a chair next to Macbeth, and Ginny sat herself down as well. âYou alright Macbeth?â asked Aeris. âYeaâŠâ she murmured. She was gazing into the fire, chin resting in her hands. The flames reflected in her eyes and played mysterious shadows on her face. Ginny laughed softly a bit before saying, âMacbeth, you still like Draco?â Macbeth blushed. âWell, I havenât seen himâŠâ âHeheâŠâ grinned Ginny evilly. The fact that Macbeth was looking at the fire didnât help the red in her face. In fact, she was positively glowing now. âAnd I havenât even spoken to himâŠâ âHonestly,â said Ginny, âHeâs pretty slimy. He may look nice but I donât think-â Macbeth turned to look at Ginny. âYou think he looks nice?â Ginny turned red. âNo! Of course notâŠIâm just sayingâŠâ Aeris laughed. Macbeth smiled and looked back at the fire. âWhat are you saying Ginny?â âUh, nothingâŠjust, oh fine, heâs a cutie! But heâs horrid!â said Ginny hotly. She buried her face in her hands and began to giggle madly. Macbeth chuckled. âFrom what Iâve heard, every Gryffindor thinks that every Slytherin is crudâŠand thatâs a lot, especially since Iâve only heard two peopleâs opinion on it. âAnd yetâŠâ She leaned back in her chair. âI can tell, quite easily, that every one of you think the same thing.â Macbeth quickly turned to Ginny. âNot that Iâm angry or anythingâŠâ Aeris bit her lip, stifling a laugh. Ginny sucked in a breath. âOkayâŠâ Macbeth smiled. âBut itâs good to know that a Gryffindor, no matter what, can think that a Slytherin is a âcutieâ. Means thereâs hopeâŠfor the Houses, I meanâŠNow for my future marriage with Draco Malfoy, that presents a problem, since now I have a little competitionâŠâ said Macbeth jokingly. Ginnyâs eyes widened, and she began to laugh. âHmmâŠâ thought Aeris. Macbeth looked at Aeris. âYes, Ms. I-love-to-act-mysterious-and-keep-secrets-from-everyone?â she asked facetiously. Aeris laughed. âI donât keep secrets!â She smiled, as if to prove it. âSuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuureâŠâ She turned around. âOh look, thereâs Seamus.â She cracked an evil grin. âHEY SEAMUS!â She waved in a way painfully obvious way. Aeris turned around in time to see Seamus waving at them. âEep!â Her eyes widened and she began to giggle. Macbeth smiled and shook her head. âLavender is going to kill youâŠâ âPish posh on Lavender!â said Aeris. âMy method is, âOops, too slow, heâs taken already.ââ âOh goodness,â said Macbeth, rolling her eyes teasingly. âAERISâŠâ Ginnyâs eyes were popping with shock. âYOUâŠandâŠSEAMUS??â "Can you believe it?" said Macbeth. Aeris began to giggle. Macbeth laughed and grinned at Ginny. [Corridor] Harry's feet pounded on the stone floors. He pumped his legs as fast as he could, trying to get to Hermione in the library. He had to show her the book. Suddenly, he stopped, teetering on his right foot. His head seared with pain, and he clapped his hand to forehead. "My scar!" he managed to croak. He fell to his knees, both hands over his scar. His eyes watered with the pain; he couldn't see, everything was turning black⊠"I just got word from Madam Pomfrey that you found Harry passed out in a corridor a little while ago," said Dumbledore. "Yeah," said Aeris. "May I ask how you knew he was in trouble?" asked Dumbledore. "IâŠI don't know, we just sortaâŠknew." "Knew?" "We felt somethingâŠ" said Macbeth. "I see," said Dumbledore. "It was odd, I've never felt that before," said Aeris. "It may be that you're growing a connection with Mr. Potter.," said Dumbledore. "Some elves have been known to feel when a comrade or dear friend has been injured." "How??" said Aeris. "It may be friendship that makes the connecton, but it can also be the urge to protect, suspicion, extreme hate, or love" Macbeth's eyes widened. "ButâŠ" Aeris muttered. "Yes, Aeris?" inquired Dumbledore. "IâŠWE don't know him that wellâŠdo we?" she finished. Dumbledore smiled. "Well, it must be something that connects you to him, otherwise, you would have felt nothing." Aeris looked sideways at Macbeth, who was staring at the floor, determined not to make eye contact with anyone present. "UmâŠ" she finally began, "What do you think Aeris? Because IâŠI don't knowâŠ" "I dunno," said Aeris, "I suppose perhaps, it would be easierâŠto understand it, maybe, ifâŠif we told Harry where we are from." |
