Haikus 2, Contemplations of An Older Cat

An older cat contemplates life through haikus.

Meditation

warm sun filters in
through chinks in bamboo basket-
butterfly flies by.

Old Cat

Today she walks slowly,
Nods graciously to her friends,
Then takes a long nap.

Autumn

warm fires time is here-
I sleep curled up on the hearth
leaves tap on windows

Mice

tiny little feet
pitter patter through my dreams -
in youth I chased them
