PALINDROME

My first attempt at acrostic poetry. Written for contest, prompt is the title.

Picking out words or phrases,
Always the same in either direction,
Like level or race car or dad,
Is much trickier than it seems.
Never is there a dud when you need one.
Did you know "a man, a plan, a Canal Panama,"
Reverses to read the very same thing?
Or do you need a pup to make it clear?
Madam Adam can be backwards too.
Easy to read them, but palindromes are hard to find.
