Wishes of a city dweller who longs to be in a village. |
| I live in a city - Where the cars ply On the streets so dry, And honk aloud At the passing crowd. I live in a city - Where the buildings rise To kiss the skies, Like a jungle of apartments Hiding the blues of the vast firmament I live in a city - It’s like a dirty prison; Breathing is not easy- ‘Cause if you breathe, You’ll inhale poison. Oh! To live in a village - Where the cart ox-drawn Moves out at dawn Squeaking in a gentle mirth Down the trodden village path. Oh! To live in a village - Where the houses though small, Provide for them all, And the sky’s so blue You’ll marvel at its hue. Oh! To live in a village - Where freedom is so pretty! Far away from the city And one can dare To breathe in fresh air. I want not wealth, O Lord! Jus’ grant me my dream - A dream that I cherish - Funny though it may seem. Show me the road that leads to the village Where Nature creates her wonders, And let me be a humble villager- I want to bask in its splendour. |
