Written for my best friend of 16 years. I still can't believe you stayed.

You could have walked away
Said it was too much for you and left
But you stayed
I kept trying to push you away
Tried to leave you before you left me
You were good to me...for me
And in my state of mind at that time
Everything good goes away
I thought by pushing you away
There would be no pain
But you stayed
That confused me for so long
It had worked before
I pushed people away then retreated into my shell
But no matter how hard I pushed you away
You stayed
You didn't understand the rules of my "game"
Thanks to you I learned what friendship truly
means
For that I will always love you
All because you stayed
