This is the tale of Adam Trask, who moves to the Salinas River Valley with his new wife, Cathy, who is severely injured and hiding dark secrets even as she is pregant with their children. It is also the story of those children, Cal and Aron, as they grow up, and of the people who live and work in the river valley, and come to be a part of their lives. | ||

I'd say anyone over 11 or 12. I guess it kind of depends on the person, but this is a pretty deep book and some of it might fly over the head of someone younger. | ||

The style that Steinbeck writes in. It fascinated me; it was completely unique and like nothing I've ever read before. It seemed simple at first, but as I read on, I realized how accurately he captured emotions and people, and made the story come to life. His style actually grew on me so much that I could hardly write for a few days after finishing the book because his style of writing kept creeping up on me. | ||

I loved this book so much that I didn't want it to end. I really did want to pick up another of John Steinbeck's books right away. | ||
