At the end of the day a taxi picks up a mother and son and delivers them home. On the way they see other vehicles settling down for the night, each turning off lights and engines and going to bed. At the end the boy snuggles down, clutching a firetruck, and goes to sleep himself. | ||

The repeated verse, "Off go their engines. *click* Off go their lights." It makes it easy to remind kids about the book as you settle them down, even if you don't read the whole book. | ||
I didn't like... | ||
One of the last trucks they see is an ice cream truck, which the taxi stops and the three get ice-cream. Not exactly a bedtime activity, but cute. | ||

The art in this picture book stands alone as well. When it's not nap time, they still like to 'read' the book because the trucks are all very interesting to look at. | ||
