We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life. |
“There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .” ― Charles Spurgeon “Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.” ― C. H. Spurgeon “Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.” ― Charles Haddon Spurgeon “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.” ― Charles Spurgeon “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” ― Charles Spurgeon “Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.” ― Charles Spurgeon “When your will is God's will, you will have your will.” ― Charles Spurgeon https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/2876959.Charles_Haddon_Spurgeon (Philippians 2:13, KJV) |
The sun shines brightly in the sky to testify of Light. Great Glory hath the One, Who's nigh, the Victor over night. The sun is but a moon, that's all, when shining next to Christ. The voice of Man, the faintest call beside surpassing life. The sun's so bright to earthly eyes, that see a narrow band of the spectrum, whose great lasting prize. 'Twas created by His Plan. Throughout the universe, that's dark shine stars, who testify of Light, Who pierces ev'ry part of Sin's Debt, Death, and Lie. The darkness seems so big and bold, surrounding lights, who shine each candle shines, where they are told to search for souls to find. The sun must shine in strength as giv'n. Each Christian lights the dark to boldly serve the Lord while liv'in', until we disembark. Reprove not, ye, the sun, who serves the Lord with dying light. Obedience His Name deserves, though "smoking flax" or bright. (Matthew 12:20, KJV) The day will come for newness rare when "fervent heat" consumes. The "burning" off of ev'ry care, great Sin's most lasting tomb. (II Peter 3:10, KJV) The Lord, He is "consuming fire," the Trier of all reigns. So bright He is, there's no light higher. No earthly tongue complains. (Hebrews 12:25, KJV) The Lord has sight beyond all sight. He sees through spectrums all with Eyes, that scan so cunning bright, none hide from Judgment's Call. But Mercy sees the shadow's turn of hearts made true to Him by slightest heat the dross to burn to sing from the heart a hymn. The Light, that keeps the Dark at bay, the Just makes Mercy sweet, Salvation is for you, today, your heart the Savior greet. by Jay O’Toole on October 7th, 2020 |
Each wave of green throughout the backyard flows, though blades are still without the slightest move. The flow'ring blooms how silently they grow. Each falling leaf the growing cold reproves. The greenhouse opens arms to welcome home the tender plants, who need a place to stay. The pruning must begin its annual tome of blooming canes recycled for new day. Some pine cones litter 'round the big pine tree as colored bottles form a glassy fence. Mimosas in the cold are blossom-free. Lantanas stand awaiting time to winch. The back yard days are shorter now for play, but silent nights must all the Lord obey. by Jay O’Toole on October 6th, 2020 |
The coolness of this year, the brightness of the light, a hopefulness so clear, a new day bless-ed quite. A breeze is in the air a log is in the hearth, we'll COVID-miss the Fair, but play at home our mirth. To sit upon a bench so easy in our yard, a thirst for nature quench the cost we can afford. The sunset is quite grand, the cloak of night enfolds. The crooners with their band attention quickly holds. Mosquitoes carry off these souls in reverie. Chapeaus we all will doff, then in the house to flee. by Jay O’Toole on October 5th, 2020 |
Gentleness can soothe the soul. Gentleness can make us whole. Gentleness, the daily goal for Self and others here. Gentleness can give us light. Gentleness will give us sight. Gentleness, the way made right to show the path, that's clear. Gentleness, the victor's tool. Gentleness, His Lordly Rule. Gentleness allows no fool to bring in caustic fear. Gentleness, the Lamb, Who roars. Gentleness shuts other doors. Gentleness still pleads, implores, "Receive the Door so dear." Gentleness of Heart is blest. Gentleness endures the test. Gentleness can manifest as Day, that lasts all year. by Jay O’Toole on October 3rd, 2020 |
With days of awfulness and sin abroad, we find the light is draining from the sky. The only hope we have is placed in God, our confidence of Hope, Who will not lie. "My house and I are stayed upon the Lord. His service we will fully render, yet." (Joshua 24:15f, KJV) Our days of life are based upon His Word. He cares for us, though tougher they may get. In human strength, I have no cause to stand for we will fail each other and ourselves, but lately bids our Lord to trust His Plan. He seeks our hearts and there within He delves. The ones, He calls, are never out of reach. The trials of life are His great tools to teach. by Jay O’Toole on October 2nd, 2020 |
Preparation: Now's the time to make the thoughts a book. It may be an uphill climb, but grander every look. Preparation gives a start, beginning the way to walk. Preparation's strong, though part of focus and our talk. Preparation now begins two months of flowing thoughts. Preparation finally ends with new ideas taught. by Jay O’Toole on September 30th, 2020 |
