We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life.
There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .
― Charles Spurgeon

Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.

Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.

From priest to priest, they made Him go,
and then to Pilate's hall.
They judged The One, Who could no sin know,
and then the crowd they'd call.

When Pilate had Him scourged and mocked
of platted thorns and robe,
their words were awful, just to shock.
"I find no fault," he probed.

Then Jesus stood before the people's rage.
Pilate said, "Behold the man!"
The Lord of Glory on the stage,
so cursed by the devil's plan.

The cries of "Crucify him!" loud,
bequeathed by insane hearts
were spoke by those so mindless, proud,
before some hope could start.

Their accusation, "Son of God"
made Pilate more afraid.
In the hall was Jesus judged, not awed,
where Pilate's words were not obeyed.

"You will not speak? I've power to free."
"You have no power at all,
except from Above it's given to thee.
The greater sin's my captor's call
."

They blackmailed Pilate, condemned the Lord.
Yet, someone, he could free.
"Release the thief, to the cross with the Word,
and Caesar, he's for me!
"

Jesus was then led away
to hang upon the tree.
The One, Who suffered for a day,
exchanged, that I'd be free.

Then Pilate had the final word
with many lofty Jews.
"The King of the Jews" was read and heard,
but they liked not paying these dues.

"Just put, 'He claimed to be the king,'
for the king, he's really not
."
"What I've written, that I now will sing,
for I've writ, and I change not
."

"1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.

2 And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.

3 Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.

4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?

5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

7 Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:

9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.

10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

12 Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,

13 And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.

14 Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
"

(John 18:1-14, KJV)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When the silent days were o'er and past,
the Lord retired to pray.
He asked His Father 'bout the task,
"Be quit? Or must obey?"

Iscariot, he knew the place,
for Jesus went there oft.
A band, they followed by the leaders' grace
with torches held aloft.

But Jesus marched right up to them,
and asked, "Who are you looking for?"
"Why, Jesus of Nazareth. Yes, him."
"I'm He." They fell to the floor.

He asked, again, "Who do you want to find?"
"Just Jesus of Nazareth, of course."
"I've told you, I'm He. Now, choose to be kind.
Let these go with no recourse.
"

The saying said, He truly spoke,
"I have not lost a one."
Then Simon Peter's sword awoke
but missed the servant's head.
The ear of Malchus is not a joke.
He wanted him full dead.

Now, Jesus told Pete, "Put it up.
I have to drink it full.
The Father's given me this cup.
His Glory, it must rule.
"

The captain and his men then took
the Lord and bound Him tight.
They let then Annas have a look,
but Caiaphas had the right.

What he then said was fully wise,
but he might not fully know,
"One man should die. We'll hear His cries
for the people. It was so.
"

They took Him, uncharged, innocent,
that we might not be lost,
but when they beat Him, clothing rent,
'twas then we'd know the cost.

This night we wait to see the Face
for their verdict, yet unknown.
The Man of Sorrows gave us Grace.
He's the "corn of wheat," now sown.

"1 And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,

2 And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

3 And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.

4 And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.

5 And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?

6 And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.

7 And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.

8 And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.

9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:

10 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

11 And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.
"

(Mark 11:1-11, KJV)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And when He neared the town and mount,
He sent the two to find
the colt was tied by His account,
they loosed the ropes, that bind.

"Why do ye loose the colt?" they asked,
the owners of the same.
"The Lord hath bid of us this task,"
and they left without blame.

They brought the colt to Jesus, then
they laid upon its back
their garments, where He'd sit, begin
parading down the track.

Some other garments strowed they there,
and palm fronds on the road.
They praised Him, walking everywhere,
"Hosanna!" as they strode.

"Blessed is The One, Who comes
to honor The Lord's Own Name.
Blessed is the Kingdom's sum,
of David, quite the same.

"Hosanna in the highest Heaven."
All Glory be to God.
And Jesus came to bind up leaven,
to win The Lord's applause.

He walked the temple, looked around,
and with the evening come,
He went to Bethany's blest ground
with His disciples from.

He entered well of pomp and laud,
but as the week progressed,
He was to them much less than God,
and one quite dark, distressed.

The joyful crowd and cheering throng
became an angry mob.
Now, "Crucify Him!" as their song,
they put on the cross their God.

The goodness of the glad, "He comes!"
became "Away with Him!"
But when we see those days and sums
He arose to live, again.

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets,
and stonest them which are sent unto thee,
how often would I have gathered thy children together,
even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings,
and ye would not!

(Matthew 23:37, KJV)

———————————————————————————————————

He came to save the world from sin,
but not all believed His Word.
The days before He'd live again,
were dark, and Hope was blurred.

"O, Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you've silenced Truth,
and stoned the preacher's words.
I would have gathered you from youth
as doth all brooding birds.

"But you would not." These stiff-necked souls
rejected God's Own Son.
They put Him on the cross, so bold
as though they vict'ry won.

Yet, when the tomb was opened wide,
The Savior was not seen
for though it's true, that He had died
Death's grasp was broken clean.

Each Holy Week starts with a tear,
and ends with boundless joy
for Jesus Christ destroyed all fear
by His Gift without alloy.

God became the Man, Who's God.

The Child once born in a stable bed,
was shown The Man, Who died and rose.

All Time was changed by timeless God-Man.
Eternity is ruled by His Lone Word.
Redemption saves believers, now.

evidence is weighed
final choice must then be done
doubts must be dispatched

exercise the faith
believing all the Lord does
standing on the Truth

weigh the mental voice
stay with what you know is right
believing the Lord

childlike faith is best
knowing God will never change
focus on His Face

believing the One, Whose trust
is worthy, and will not fail

The wind, unseen by human eyes,
it blows upon the hoary head.
To dwell within the earthly skies,
it stands a ghost and runs when led.

The wind, its gentle face caresse,
doth comfort heart and spirit twain,
but in its violence of duress
all men's creations are as vain.

The wind, a symbol of the heart,
will bless the world when all is good,
but when its changes come to start
the suddenness of bad is rude.

The wind must be by God contained
for life to venture past today.
The heart must be by God full reigned
for Hope to live beyond dismay.

The wind and heart encouragement now
when given voice to show their strength,
but lost the day when bad makes bow
a life beyond its given brink.

Some day the Master of the wind
will say thee, "Peace!" and "Stop!" "Enough!"
for blowing causes reeds to bend,
and hearts to bow when words are rough.

Yet, He by words can all create,
and He by words can be Heart's balm
for He is ne'er too soon, nor late
to speak, "SHALOM!" and greatest calm.

The Great I Am from Time Unknown
created all we see,
and all we cannot see alone
is more than the mind can free.

When Man was placed upon the Earth
obeyed he God awhile,
but then he broke the best to birth
a lasting Sin, so vile.

God had The Plan to save these souls
before they breathed their first.
First Sin had not destroyed His goals.
His blessing wins o'er the Curse.

The Son of God would leave His Home
becoming the Son of Man.
The atmosphere of this lone dome
is the cathedral for His Plan.

The virgin's womb became the door
to birth the Door to God.
The rocky must of the manger's floor
was the start to fix all flawed.

The silent years of the Everlasting Word
saw Perfection live like us,
that when His thoughts were finally heard
His Truth would stand as thus.

He called twelve men to teach The Way.
He angered the teachers of men.
With miracles on full display,
He sparked the demise of Sin.

"He's not of God. He breaks the Law.
He must be silenced fast.
"
They broke the Law with each lying flaw
to keep enthroned the Past.

Accusers' words they fully heard,
but slapped the Face of Truth.
They crucified The Living Word,
most perfect from His youth.

They swaddled Jesus, now in death,
and laid Him in a cave,
but on day three The Living Breath
was risen from the grave.

His earthbound friends were mystified,
"Could He yet live, again?"
They touched the flesh of their great Guide,
now Victor over Sin.

"I am The Way, The Truth, The Life.
There is no other way
to come to God. All paths are strife
apart from Me, I say.
"

The naked heart will stand before
the God of piercing gaze,
but those now clothed by He, Who bore
their sin will know just praise.

Please, come to Him with all you are.
Receive all that He bought.
Salvation is not very far.
He gives it. It's not caught.

The Tree is where the gifts are placed,
below or even on.
The Package of Eternal Grace
is One blest slabbed-placed Son.

The third morn He arose, unwrapped
the shroud of blood-stained cloths
to bless some humans, always trapped
in Sin's ungainly swath.

Unwrapping gifts on Christmas Day
is what we humans do.
Unwrapping Grace is Christ's display.
His last words were, "It is through."
