You are what you write. Illusion and Reality...I reside in between. Where are you?
UNDERSTAND THAT REDIRECTING CIVILIZATION is a major undertaking. You can write volumes about it and who will listen? But the energy that goes for that purpose cannot be withdrawn. You know that.

BLOG CITY Prompt: Think of something (book, movie, song or the like) that you once loved but over time it lost its appeal to you. Tell us about it and why did your feelings for it change.

Books that were converted into major films or television series that I liked, or almost liked, after having read the books.

Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings: Amazing films, but they still didn't come close to the scope and detail of the books. I was always aware of the full-size human actors presented as little people with furry feet.

Harry Potter: Visually fulfilled most of my visions from the books. I still enjoyed reading the books.

Game of Thrones: A valiant attempt, but cannot come close to the visions presented in the books. What I imagined was better.

Almost always, the writer's vision is greater and more in depth than the film that tries to duplicate it in a few hour's performance. How is it that we can read for longer hours than we can watch movies. Are you a reader or a watcher?

Blog City Prompt: Victor Hugo said: "Intelligence is the wife, imagination is the mistress, memory is the servant." Do you feel that your memories work for you, or do you feel beholden to your memories?

beholden: under obligation or to be bound.

I am absolutely NOT bound to my memories. However, a lifetime of memories is a gigantic resource for writing---Places/locations are very useful. Skills or observed techniques, religious and political experiences, plus personal experiences are valuable. Characters I've known or observed become fictionalized versions.

My second resource are dream memories and I have a lot of those. As far as being 'beholden' (funny old word)--- I use what works for a story, but feel no obligation to represent the memory truthfully, just the essence or the technical details that support a plot.

Aside from all that, I have a few past-life memories and those are treasures that I carry proudly. They appear in my books, but you'd never know reading them.

I guess I view memories as a great library with all the books open. I fear that the certain alphabet agencies see our lifetime information just like that. Think about that. My memories work for me all the time. How about you?

Blog City Prompt: They say you can't go home again. {After leaving a home you grew up in for years.} Do you agree with this statement?

HOME is a very particular word with a number of meanings.

If you are in a spaceship out past Pluto, and the stranger asks, "Where are you from?" You'd say, "I'm from the planet Earth."

If you're traveling through the Middle East (on Earth) and they ask, "Where do you come from?" Usually you'd say, "I'm an American, because they don't know anything about the individual states except New York and California.

If you're in the states, you'd say, "I'm originally from Wyoming, but I live in Belize now." Then they ask, "Where's that?" And so it goes.

Home is where you live, so it could be a house. As the years go by, houses become very temporary. Or it could be where your parents live and might be where you grew up. In my case, those houses are long gone as well as the parents. Then the question might be, "Where was your home?" In that context, I can't go home again.

Then it boils down to where you sleep at night? Ask a homeless person where their home is. Then home becomes a childhood memory. I hope (there's that word again) that your childhood memories are warm and loving. Mine were.

The mention of 'home' brings for each of us a different stack of vivid memories. Relish the variety.

Blog City Prompt: Hope Always. Write Anyway. What do you think?

I'm trying to make a connection between 'Hope Always' and 'Write Anyway'. Is there a question that someone might give up hope and despair instead? And then, without hope, they should write?

This can only be addressed with my personal belief. Each person has different degrees of those elements.

I gave up on hope a long time ago. It seemed futile to give the power to some unknown what-if, maybe someday kind of thinking. I work with intentions. Our personal, creative force in relation to the universe is awesome. But it doesn't work with the idea that you want money for something. You know, "Someone will walk in and give me a check for $1,000." Doesn't work that way. It is definitely not a Santa Clause list! Remember the future is fluid and usually you have no idea what is heading (or not heading) in your direction. Intend that it be good and useful.

The need has to be legitimate and what you get might appear as a loaned item, an abandoned item, a friend or stranger's gift. The source can be totally unexpected. It's just that you quietly intend that it be. No hysterics, no pleading with the gods, no out-loud wishing...just intend with a true belief and move on. Simple. And no timetable. If you falter in your belief, the intention will be gone. Minds that are cluttered up with past failures and guilt need a lot of clearing.

Study those folks who seem to attract trouble and problems to themselves. What do they believe? The universe does its best to make them right.

I would change 'Write Anyway' to WRITE ALWAYS. Writing is a passion. Can be an obsession. But more importantly...it is a DISCIPLINE. Combine that with INTENTION and you will move forward with the words from your creative spirit.

I think all this goes back to the est training I experienced in Los Angeles in the late 70's. Responsibility for self. Go figure.

Write on...>>>iggy*Boat*

BLOG CITY *City* Prompt: Ebola. Thoughts?

This is the other side of the mainline news. There has been an explosion of news stories in the last several days about the threat and dangers of Ebola. And hardly a word about the Polio-like Enterovirus-68 that has infected many children, and some fatal. So I have to ask, what's going on?

Governments seize colloidal silver being used to treat Ebola patients, says advocate
As The Post noted today in a front-page story about the global health disaster: "This is both a biological plague and a psychological one, and fear can spread even faster than the virus."

Both WHO and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have given their blessing to experimental therapies for Ebola, citing a lack of proven treatment options. But when it comes to using therapeutic silver, all bets are off, it seems.

WHO officials also reportedly called off a trial at an Ebola isolation ward where local health authorities were set to begin administering the silver, which the U.S. government previously demonstrated is highly effective against Ebola. WHO ordered the trial not to proceed despite the fact that it had earlier voiced support for experimental treatments. While the media proclaimed loudly that the treatment could not possibly work.

The blessing is apparently only for experimental therapies being produced by the large corporate pharmaceutical companies. Letting people cure themselves is damaging to the bottom line!

This is getting more and more interesting. The trial of colloidal silver that was proposed in Nigeria was canceled due to political pressure. Meanwhile, a document has surfaced showing that the United States Air Force Research Laboratory has documented not only that colloidal silver is an anti-viral, but the mechanism by which it prevents the Ebola virus from multiplying in the body!

How enlightening to confirm that the FDA, in order to preserve the profits of the pharmaceutical corporations, is willing to allow humans too poor to pay for costly corporate Ebola treatments to die one of the most horrible deaths imaginable!

My instinct is to watch,,read and listen to all the news with particular attention to who benefits? Who financed the scientific study? There are many voices. Can you truthfully discern which is coming from the illusion and which is reality? Ignorance and blind faith could be very dangerous in these days of...what? What's going on?

Peace...>>>iggy*Boat*

BLOG CITY Prompt: What is your process for problem solving? You choose the context as best fits your life.

"In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing."
attributed to Theodore Roosevelt

I tend to agree with President Roosevelt. Most problems are like a broken machine. It's just going to sit there until someone actually fixes it. The solution to a problem is a decision. Painful it might be, but you have to make that decision to do something about the problem.

So, is the decision logical? Did you consider all the options, or is the decision a compromise that is only half going to fix it?

Group problem solving is a minefield of probabilities. Personal agendas, peer pressure, financial influence, or simply inexperience can force devastating control over decisions. We read often about politicians 'kicking the can down the road'. Something to be avoided if at all possible. I have great sympathy for parents who are faced with: vaccinate or not; public, private or home-school; move the family or not? It's all tremendously difficult.

I guess I make my own decisions just like I do when writing a novel. There is a problem...I try to solve it to make the story make sense and happen the way I have planned it. Usually my life works out the same way. As I have said before, adaptation is a necessary skill and that goes along with compromise. And as Teddy says, doing nothing is not a solution.

Peace, >>>iggy*Boat*

Blog City Prompt: I was thinking today about this. How do we strike a balance between self exposure and discretion with our writing. I am sure each of us has a comfort zone but how? Will what we publish hurt someone? Will it embarrass us in years to come? Am I the only one who thinks about this when I write?

A few thoughts to think about...

if you are young (under 35), think about what those revealations could possibly mean to your future teenage son or daughter. You would have no defense if they showed similar behavior. In most cases, what happens in youth should stay in the past not written or archieved. Remember eveything published is kept and stored forever. I have found copies of web sites I created in the early 80's still existing and exactly as there were back then. Scary

As free and open as WDC feels, the published blogs are part of all our lives' permanent record. Transparency and honesty are admirable traits and we all strive for them, however---discretion should rule when you consider WHO MIGHT BE READING YOUR WORDS A YEAR FROM NOW, TEN YEARS FROM NOW. The thirty-year-old doesn't expect to be running for the Senate when he's sixty, but he might. Note that such things happen. Past words are brought up to discredit or humiliate the candidate. And this is happening every day.

Oftentimes you can tell a story without naming names or specific places. Details can be fictionalized if it's important to express your experiences. Be creative, not literal.

Governments change. Rules change. Everything that leaves your computer will pass through the Internet and is filtered in a split second, probably more than once. Striving for a free and open society should be everyone's goal. Right now, in this time, some ideas are seen as threatening. Remember, some words carry potential consequences. You are responsible for what you write.

Write to educate, write to inspire, write with love.

Sorry, don't mean to sound like an old grump. I just believe these things are important!
Peace...>>>iggy*Boat*

Blog City Prompt: Do you believe in angels?

Angels are entities that do not exist in our three-dimensional reality. Angels exist mostly through faith. Our civilization abounds with literature and images of angels. I believe that they were revered even before the era of christian beliefs.

I don't know where the idea of angels having wings came from. It certainly has created some beautiful art work and sculpture. Physical wings on a human sized body are at best awkward. If you've ever shepherded a group of first-grade angels for the Christmas pageant, you know it can lead to chaos.

Take away the word 'angel' and what do you have? Is it a Guardian? Is it some kind of protector or gentle companion that watches us struggle so painfully through life's challenges? A thousand stories will decide something different.

If you believe, it is a comfort. I believe...but he doesn't have wings, only a loving heart.

Blog City Prompt: Let's go with a creative idea: "Pahligma" - define it

Pahligma or more commonly know as a Pah-Ligma is a highly developed skin used for many famous mobile telephones, tablets and computers.

The basic material PAH is an organic compound containing only carbon and hydrogen. Of course the original Pah account for a significant percentage of all carbon in the universe, and PAHs are discussed as possible starting materials for abiologic syntheses of materials required by the earliest forms of life. Therefore absolutely necessary for the phones of today.

The LIGMA are the outer layer of polystyrene foam glass fiber that withstands the rigors of teenage abuse and constant use. The inner pah is always protected. That's why the extraordinary new mobile devices are so expensive, often starting at $5000 to $7000 for the basic unit.

Of course, everyone desires to own a Pahligma protected device. Wouldn't you?

Enjoy...>>>iggy*Boat*

Blog City Prompt: "I had such great plans..."

Back in 1958 I auditioned for the national touring company of the original production of West Side Story. In all probability I would be cast as Baby-John and work with Jerome Robbins choreography on a national tour. That really was a great plan! I was a good dancer and performer and ready to take that on.

As it turned out, upon returning home from this amazing day, I had an envelope in the mail. "Greetings! You are ordered to report for induction into the United States Armed Services." I was just 22 years-old and the draft was working well. So instead I trained in Kansas, Texas and was posted to Germany for the duration of my service time. I worked with a great group of other 22 year-olds. We all were college graduates.

I never returned to a chance on Broadway, but had a very satisfying career as a dancer, choreographer and director for many stage productions. Plans change for unexpected reasons. I learned very quickly to adapt.

Adaptation is a skill to develop in this weird world we live in, you know?

Peace. >>>iggy*Boat*
