Well, well, well, if it isn't my self writing a blog post. So, you believe I have been lazy? Ordinarily that would be quite true. Alas, I have been busy writing. Imagine that!

I have gone through my novel and competed a first editing. I am now ready to complete the last two chapters! So, I am on schedule to complete my novel by the end of January! How is your writing coming along? I hope you are being more consistent than me!

My writing dry spell is over. Now it is time to carve out an hour a day no matter how crazy my day gets. That plan is working! So, now to get more productive a little at a time. I am cutting myself a little slack this year as I am working a full-time job and refitting our sailboat. With that in mind, I have narrowed down my writing projects to that which is most essential.

I will continue to post on occasion when I have some extra time in the schedule. I wish you happy writing!

It's been awhile... I am not very current on my blog writing here. I could just admit that life has been crazy busy, but then I would be telling the truth. I am trying hard to work on fiction.

We sailed 2000 miles this year. I took on a day job, and I am working on my writing. That is the nonfiction part of 2019.

Happy New year everyone. I am planning on another crazy year, but with more writing and a little less long-distance sailing.

I do have goals! I plan on publishing BillyRay series this year. I have scaled back all of my other projects to make this happen. So, that will be my excuse for not doing a weekly blog like I had so hoped to do in 2019. At least this year I will have some realistic and attainable goals!

What are your goals? Are they reasonable? Are the attainable? Are you pushing yourself hard enough but not so hard that you break?

I wish you an awesome 2020. May the grammar gods shine on you!

Fair winds until I can post next time!

Has it really been months since my last entry? I guess We have been having too much fun!
Let's see, writing, oh and a huge change of plans.
Let me backtrack.
Writing. I have been busy with the cookbooks. The second book, Tofu From Scratch is languishing on Amazon, while the first one, Sourdough continues to amble along, poking at my ambition to write more cookbooks. I decided that two in the Vegan in the Wilderness series will have to suffice for now while I work on a new novel series. The first book is almost completed. Right now, the working title is, BillyRay and the Book of Remedies.
Now for the big distraction and change of plans:
The Boat!
Yup, I tried to be a landlubber. It lasted six painful years. I slipped off my 12 step program to quit sailing. This time, we purchased a Hans Christian 41. She looks like the last boat, except a bit larger. We are busy with a ton of boat list projects to get her ready to take back to Alaska.
So, there you have it... a strange excuse to pare down my writing projects for a couple of months. We want the boat ready by May to start our homeward voyage. Guess which boat is the new "Tender Spirit"!

I have have been busy testing new recipes for my next book. Crazy eh? Who would have guessed that my little cookbooks would be popular? I am writing a short series of vegan cookbooks based on my crazy life of having to go vegan. I sure wish I had these little cookbooks when I started.
The second book, Tofu From Scratch is almost ready. The final editing is underway and it should be ready in just a week or two. Yippie!
I can't wait for that one to be completed so that I can get back to my true love... fantasy fiction!

Hello? Are you still around? It's me, Sourdough. I have been dormant in the refrigerator this last month, waiting to get out and start growing again. I am the writer within. I don't need much to flourish, just a bit of flour for the brain and some water to sip on. The ideas will bubble and expand, ripe for harvest.

It is past time to hang out again on WDC!

I crept slowly through the wet grass, droplets soaked into my thin tee shirt, green blades created red slices on my bare legs. I held my breath, then let it out slowly, and as quietly as possible. I heard it again and smashed my face into last year’s brown undergrowth. The whine of the ATV increased as it bounced closer. Was it still on the old rutted trail? Am I concealed enough? It stopped.

“Bitch! I. know. You can hear. me,” screamed the male voice. I froze like a rabbit. The wind tousled my hair. Beyond the smell of damp soil and grass, I caught a whiff of a cigarette. s***. The staccato of an automatic weapon erupted. It echoed off the hillside. I involuntarily twitched.

Am I hit? I felt no pain. I dare not move. No, I’m OK. A flock of crows erupted from the trees nearby filling the air with caws of protest. The crunching of steps stopped. A mosquito bit deeply into my right eyelid. It took everything to keep from swatting it. Another joined in the feeding frenzy.

“You are dead. Bitch. I will find you. There is nowhere you can go now.”

The ATV revved up. I heard his foot jab at the gear shift, then the click as it responded. Relief washed over me as the noise receded. I waited. The mosquitoes continued to feed off my face. Can I move? I slowly inched my hand towards my face and swatted the little bloodsuckers.

The quiet spoke loudly in my inquiring ear. The crows circled overhead and returned to their perches in pairs. I slowly rose to a kneeling position and glanced over the sea of grass. A young yearling buck flicked his ears and hesitantly stepped out.

My knees ached and my body screamed out in desperation. Hours passed. The sun sank behind the spruce trees. As dusk descended, I slowly angled my way back to the creek. I washed the caked-on mud off my face and sauntered back to the camp via the deer trail rather than the muddy road.

We are packing in earnest. Cleaning out, downsizing, and boxing up our treasures. We have much to look forward to so let's get started with all these advantages to a fresh start.
1. We now own exactly what we want to have around us. Those little trinkets are now a pleasant memory. All those items that we have duplicates of are in the hands of those who have none.
2. We get to choose where we want to live and who we wish to hang out with.
3. We get to make new friends and enjoy new communities.
4. We now have the time to travel and enjoy the lifestyle that we have missed these last few years.
5. I finally get to warm up. We will tie the snow shovel on the back of the camper. When someone asked what it is, we know we have moved to a warmer place.
6. I finally get to write full-time without that pesky day job interfering with my daily schedule.
7. No more excuses... My workouts will be mine to design, with activities I really enjoy doing, and at times that I can schedule.

Yes, just the first of a very long list to get my happy-dance started.

Yes, I am very happy that my position has been cut, now I can be productive in improving my own family circumstance. The income will be missed, but that is just one component of a happy life! Based on my reassessment, I probably should have quit anyway. So, my guardian angels are looking out for me... as usual!

I can't wait to write these blog entries as the new chapter unfolds. This chapter will start on May 1, 2018

It's official. I am FREE. My day job contract ends, and my new life begins the first day of May! I am scared about the usual fears... finances, monsters, and goblins. OK, maybe not the finances, but for sure the mythical creatures. Getting them to behave themselves will be challenging! If my characters do what is necessary to make a good story great, then everything else will fall nicely into place.

This is a short and sweet blog post... I am trying to make that troll to quit making silly faces at the wood elf. I tell you, it's a full-time job!
