I've got two unread poems (really my first shot at poetry) waitin around for someone to review them if anyone's interested :P
"Smile
"An Old Castle
I've just edited two items in my portfolio:
 Smile  (E)
I’m not allowed to be messed up I’m the pastors daughter.
and
 An Old Castle  (E)
We want the reward of being loved, but must submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known

I'd love some feedback if anyone wants to read them! I've never really done poetry before do this is my first stab at it :P
Hey y'all! Sorry, I've posted this a couple of times but oh-so-smart me didn't realize I had it on private 🤦 Sigh. Oh well 😂 I did get one review, thanks for that, but I would love to have some more feedback!

Hi everyone! I've been writing some more, and now I have a chapter to show for it! It's pretty long, but I would love it if I got some reviews! So far there are none, but I'm hoping to change that. Thanks!

How do you do that?
Hi everyone! I know I already did this, but only two people responded (thank you though), and I'm looking for a little more feedback. The story that I'm writing has a lot of futuristic names, and I was wondering how people would pronounce these:
-Auden
-Res
-Lorine
-Iylee
-Sabran
-Halon
-Aris
-Saren
-Kyman
-Dorinell
-Rodereock
-Melo

Thanks!
Names are the chrome on your fictional vehicle. They don't make it move if the story stalls.
Assume that your reader does not share connotations, your individual "sense" of the name, with you. The names you give your characters will take on meaning from their actions in text. Don't hamper yourself.
That said, you want to be careful of the "sound-alike". "Rodereock" sounds like "rodeo rock". Keep this in mind when you decide on a party-hearty, loose-cannon yes-but-he-is my-friend versus a self-sacrificing, self-effacing who-would-have-thought sort of character.
Google each name first. "Halon" is the trademark name of a fire-suppressant gas. I wouldn't tell you not to use it. Consider saving it for the guy sucks all the air out of the room.
Don't look at me. I burned out my blush reflex a long time ago.
Hi! I just joined this website, it's really complicated! I think I'm going to like it though. Not really sure what I'm supposed to say here, but... maybe I'll just tell you about my (hopefully going to someday become a) book? Actually, I need some questions answered first, depending on the answers the entire plot of the story could change. So, if anybody reading this knows about, like, spines and the brain and things like that, or is really good with technology, I could really use your help! In my story people have chips put on their spines when they are born that allow the government to "look in" on them, to see and hear and feel whatever that person is (so I guess my first question is, with advanced technology, is that possible? Or could they somehow integrate wires into the newborns' brains and have the body accept them?). And then somebody made a device that allows people to control (to an extent) anyone with a chip (wires?). So, my main question is, if that device was broken, could it have a strong enough bond to all of the chips that it would break all of them too? And if it did, would the chip be so integrated into the nervous system that it killed everyone who had the chip, or maybe turned them into a vegetable? And would the above scenario be possible at all? Because in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder (the main character) is a cyborg, and she has wires in her brain that control her metal parts, but I don't know if people could, I don't know, maybe make a remote or something that would allow THEM to control her instead? Anyway, I think you get what I'm asking. Sorry if this is long, I'm not sure what newbies usually do on this site! Thanks if you read this whole thing, I hope I didn't bore you to death!

Invent your own technology and explain how it's possible! You don't have to write hard scifi (rooted strongly in reality), especially if you don't have a PhD in a scientific discipline. Stick to soft scifi and use your imagination and skill to make your technology believable and fascinating.
Thank you! I'm glad there are much more experienced writers than me out there :)
Haha,

This is actually done in a few movies that I have seen, and I believe that it derives from the Pinocchio of Animatronics.

I know Melanie Griffith and Kim Cattrall played in two of the films that I am thinking of. Interesting...The Melanie film was okay, veered more towards the sex than the plot. The Cattrall film though was pretty cool.

I like your idea, maybe those films can help you with more. Suggestion only.

Edit:I just realized I have some more. How about these too?
-Kyman
-Dorinell
-Rodereock
-Melo

Thanks again!

Res could be Rez. Where any of those close? Sorry if they were not *Blush*

Hello,

I wouldn't. Sometimes when I read, I change the name to how I want to pronounce it, sometimes to just give myself a giggle at the story. Right now I am reading, The Shadow at Shannara and the MC's name is Shea--pronounce shay, but for fun I read aloud with it being She.

I know I am weird, I just can't help it.
JS-Almost all of those I pronounce differently in my head, but it's okay. I read the entire Lunar Chronicles thinking Scarlets last name (Benoit) was pronounced Ben-OYT, but it's really Ben-WAH (she's French). And Annie, thanks for the tip! I started reading the Shannara series too! Didn't get very far (I discovered Harry Potter), but I'm planning on finishing it. And yeah, I'm kind of wierd like that too :)
