| Hi all, This month, as indicated in a previous newsfeed note, is the last month that "Invalid Item"  will run as a contest for now. I may bring it back occasionally but for various reasons it is proving tricky to keep up. As it's the last official month, having looked at the entries, I have decided to give three 1st places and every entry will get a merit badge. The three entries that earn a first place are as follows: 1st: QPdoll  1st: Elle 1st: 🌻 pwheeler ~ love joy peace  Congrats to all and prizes will follow soon. I realise that the "Invalid Item" still has funds in it, donated by your good selves. I'll work out a way of putting this to good use for the benefit of the community. | This month will be the last month at least for the foreseeable future that "Invalid Item" will take place. I've enjoyed taking some small part in running a contest on WDC, however, for various reasons I don't think I can continue. Maybe one day in the future when I am perhaps better placed to do so, I'll give it a go again. So if you'd like to be the last dinner for now then get your entry in.

| Hi all, Firstly apologies, but I completely forgot to post the details for the January round of "Invalid Item" hence there will instead be a contest in February. I have posted the details and this month, my fave band of the moment will feature. "Who is that?", you ask. Well, you'll have to pop over and find out for yourself. | Sadly November's round of "Invalid Item" had no entries. That of course means no winners and no prizes. Thats the first time thats happened in the two years that Ive been running this. But you are all forgiven. We go again in January (remember it switched to a bi-monthly contest recently). In orger news, after spending two glorious weeks travelling through Central America in November, I really am at a crossroads. I want to sell up and go travelling but such a big step ....plenty to think about!! |
| Hi all, I distributed prizes for last month's winner of "Invalid Item" just the other day and at the same time made the decision to make it a bimonthly contest, i.e. it will be held every other month. This will give me time to judge, prizegive and announce winners in less of a rush. The winner for October was WakeUpAndLive~lifestyle change  ...big congratulations. November's contest is now up with a fairly easy prompt. Then after that the next contest will be in January, then March and so on ....so get wrting people. It aint that hard

| As the traveller in my family, its a bit weird seeing my sister, who never travels, off on an adventure to a far flung country that I've never been to. She's both excited and absolutely terrified at the same time ...she may irritate the f**k out of me sometimes but I'm praying she enjoys her adventure. |

| Hey all, Big apologies that I have so far neglected to judge and post winners to the August round of "Invalid Item" . In all honesty I completely forgot .....I could have lied and said I've been really busy blah blah ...but no I haven't. In fact I've had absolutely loads of time ....I just clean forgot. However, this next week IS going to be quite busy sooooo I have decided to judge both August & September at the same time in a couple of weeks. To make up for it I'll give everyone who entered in August a bonus merit badge in addition to the standard prizes. If anyone has any preference, suggest it in the comments ...alternatively I'll chose one myself In the meantime, just over a week to go to get those entries in for September ...come on over ...it really is very simple

| Was amazed to notice that Episodic Ataxia now has a wiki page. When I was diagnosed many years ago, there were only two known cases worldwide and I was the subject of various medical journals. It was so rare. Reading the description of EA2 is so funny as so many symptoms and treatments are those that were determined by my case. | Ha ....just reread it I hadnt realised the thing about coffee. I dont drink tea or coffee as it happens so would never have noticed. Tbh its not half as bad as full blown ataxia which is more common (Freidrich Ataxia). The episodic ataxia is much rarer but not there all the time so I can function ok mostly, I just go through phases when I have more turns than usual. I used to use a walking stick occasionally but havent used that for around 5 years now. I def like to be a bit different ...my mum used to say that it was just typical fr me to not be happy with a normal illness, I have to be different |
Hi all, I'm pleased to announce that "Invalid Item" is back for August. As prompt this month I have gone with one of the greatest bands of all time and one that will forever be associated with Summer. I haven't seen them live for many years but the musical genius behind the band is playing at a local festival this Summer ....hence why I picked a song by them. They may not be everyone's cup of tea but people of WDC, for August I give you ......The Beach Boys Head on over and 'pen' me some words
