Interesting essay, thank you. Sometimes I think of Canadian writer Leonard Cohen as the Grandfather or Godfather of rap music. He morphed from writing books & poems in the 50s into writing & performing songs also, and I think of a lot of his songs as poems just recited to background music.
Interesting writing, better than a bible or a koran. And while life might actually be solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short, I really like the happy ending, ty!
Good stuff. Makes me think of thoughts I've had about how, ever since She/He/It/They fell out of the tree, or crawled out of the cave, the human insect hasn't really evolved or improved all that much. If there is a god, I wonder if She regrets Her decision about creating the human insect? Ooh! Maybe She could just snap Her fingers (or wiggle Her lips, like Bewitched?) and then She could undo or eliminate the human insect colony, returning Planet Earth to a beautiful nature preserve?
The poem gave me goosebumps. It made me think about other books & poems I've read over the years about WW1, in Europe. Spooky, sad thoughts, about soldiers who die in war.
Good stuff, thought-provoking. Reminds me of my belief that life is pretty meaningless, or rather, the only meaning it has is that which we ascribe to it. Please keep writing.
