A group of 32 individuals trapped on an island find eight boats. They climb into the boats and sail away from the island. One of the boats gets caught in a storm and the other seven boats manage to float to a different island where they are happy.
I like the idea of people reacting differently to the same situation at hand. I'm unclear if this piece was intended to be a short story or a preface of some sort.
SUDGESTIONS
give more of your characters names and reasons for being on this island, like Samantha. If there are 32 people trapped on this island, why not be creative and delve deeper into some of those people,create a background the reader can relate to. When I read this article I wish I knew more about the island and why the new island, if not much different from the old one, is the one your characters find peace on.
I with your piece was longer as I love the tale of a journey, of any type.
