This a really great, current topic, and something that I have had several friends cry on my shoulder about. Are you planning on expanding on it? Great job on establishing the rocky relationship between Lily and her Father. One thing I would suggest is taking out/editing some of the obvious explanations of things that can inferred by the reader - such as the 'secret relationship', her clumsiness, and being Catholic.
