I enjoyed reading this story; i felt it captured something similar to a Steven King style in its painting of childhood innocence in an American setting, while preserving realism.
I can't find much to fault here, perhaps the interplay between the teacher and children could have been built upon slightly but its a matter of taste; indeed in retaining the short story label this is perhaps unnecessary.
Excellent effort, and well done.
