Dramatic and funny. This story is a unique inversion of "normal." I particularily love the references to the Seer which shows religion within a society which brings your insects one step closer to a sentient race.
The despair of hope with the death of a child and a father's defiance in the face of death really brings this story home.
How true, yet how cruel! Please stop encouraging all those layabouts who don't have any drive! Flotsam like that deserve to suffer! And for another thing--what's with everyone expecting the government to pay for everything? The phrase "the government owes me" is driving me crazy!
