I like the thoughts. It speaks to the longing we all have in deep parts of our hearts. I personally like brevity. As a compulsive explainer, I understand the need to be understood. You might want to make your audience to reach a bit more. Just som thoughts - nice work.
I like the beginning and end. The picture is clear and compelling. The middle descriptiveness seems overdone. More of a connection between the bush and the people would, I think would be very moving.
Please bear with me. I took what you wrote and cut and pasted like me way. Just to show you another way. Wasn't correcting just a different style to think about.
Why is it that I lay on the floor and roll around
why do I feel so comfortable lowly on the ground?
There's an infinity of things to do before the end
best effort fails, something creeps around the bend.
why is it that I never feel hot shame,
when I achieve nothing except the blame
for everything left a shapeless mess.
feeling god's blessing on my lazy soul
resting my feet on a pile of books and clothes
the burning is past, I count the dead-lined decisions
Soon I will have nothing to do, no obligations or desires
only self preserving fires
lay back, relax, let this world collapse
while everyone panics while sweating bricks of blood
I see no point in holding walls up
when they're just not as heavy as you think
sit with me
there is room for your feet on my pile of books
watch headless chickens run by
we are just another pair of crooks, stealing each other
I liked this very much. Clever without being cloying. I am looking for them now. they are after us all, even though it is nothing personal. another title might be "Insect eyes"
Strong images - I could feel the emptiness and pain. It is always the remaining that know the full measure of morning. It is memory that is the surest promise of life after death. No matter what else, the departed person remains with us having changed us by the encounters with them. Nice
