There is a lot of imagery in this story. It creates a peaceful image.

I find it too wordy. There is an excessive amount of adjectives and descriptive text; it feels like it is forced into the text rather than coming naturally. Some words could be simplified as well, like "variegated" just being colorful -- but since you say the colors used a following next sentence you probably don't need to mention it at all.

Sad. Nice imagery.

I think it might actually be nicer without the last line, leaves it open for the reader to fill in the blank.
