*Past*

What happened to my family: A large group of rogue ninjas attacked our village late at night, as myself and my mother just happened to be up, getting a glass of water. The group that raided our house and destroyed everything they could. The leader of the group wielded a sword, of which was used to clash into my face, as I interfered on his attack to my mother. I yelped in pain as I recoiled from my spot, holding the badly bleeding wound. I watched in horror and pain as the same sword collided into my mothers heart, making her spit up blood, staring at me with paling eyes, before her breath stopped.

It has been eleven years since I've been wandering the roads aimlessly, after the tragedy that happened to the Clan, my family. I recently decided to visit and maybe stay at Konohakagure, the Village Hidden in the Leaves, in the Land of Fire.

I carried with me my two metal fans that hung at my waist on a leather belt, with a pouch of kunais and shuriken strapped to my right thigh.

I entered the village late that night, asking for an immediate visit with the Hokage. They hesitantly did so, having two ninjas following me to make sure that I wouldn't make any 'sudden movements', or 'funny stuff'.

By the time the meeting was over, the sun was up high and the morning dew encased the ground with its natural beauty. I apologized for keeping the Hokage up all night, bowing to him for respect before I left the room, my headband in my hands. I slowly walked down a sandy street, tying the blackish-blue cloth around my neck loosely, the metal band shining in the suns rays. I heard muffled shouting down the road, but I simply ignored it as I continued on my way around the village, getting use to the new surroundings that I'd soon enough call home. The shouting grew louder, telling me that I was nearing whomever was making all the noise. I held my head low with my hands in my pockets, watching my feet as I walked. "Shut up you witch!" "Why you little!" "Please, will you two knock it off!?" came three loud voices, with them still getting louder. "Hm?" I grunted as I stopped, feeling a single pair of eyes on me, also to look where all the noise was coming from, getting to see the cutest guy I've ever seen. I quickly regained my composure and began to walk away again. "Hey! Wait up! Sarutobi-Sensei, untie me quick!" came a loud voice of a male, of which I ignored as I continued on my way down the street. "Hi!" came the voice of the guy who was yelling earlier, making me jump in startlement. ".... Hi?" I replied back in a questioning way, moving my hair behind my ears so I could see. I was surprised to see the cute, silver haired boy who had red markings on his face there, talking to me. "So, are you new here or something?" he questioned, giving me the feeling that he wasn't the shy type. "..... Got here last night." I looked at him with my arms folded over my chest, looking at him intently. I was quite intrigued by this guy. "Well hi. I'm Jiraiya, ANBU in training." he smiled hugely, jolting his thumb to his chest, obviously proud of himself. "Hm... Kaede, Jounin." "Wow! Lucky!" "Lucky? I say a it's curse... Being at the top level means more missions, means more danger, means more death. And I've seen enough death in my short lifetime." I growled, unfolding my arms and hovered my hands over one another. In a quick yank to pull them apart, I was gone, just a gust of wind left to linger where I once was. "Damn..... Oh well, she didn't seem interested in me anyway... Sarutobi-Sensei, when are we going on that a-ranked mission?"

Once I was good distance away, I reappeared near the villages river, taking a spot under the shade of a large tree near the rivers edge. I slipped off my shoes and brought my knees to my chest, as I grabbed my harmonica from my pocket and began to play a slow, sad sounding tune. When I was alone and playing my harmonica, I'm always in my own world, filled of the horrid memories of my past that lingered within me. I paused playing my harmonica as I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath, my lips slightly separated, before I began to sing. "Oh mystical night sky, here I am... under your starry night sky, under your full, angelic moon... alone and abandoned... alone and scared, alone and so far away from home. Tears are brimming my eyes, and I wonder... What have I done? Where do I belong? Why am I here?... All I want to do is scream, for all I feel is pain. The never ending pain... the never ending pain of a broken heart.... and a shattered soul..." I paused, feeling the hot liquid fall from my eyes and down my face, even though my eyes remained closed. I knew that I normally sang the song at night... But I felt it necessary to sing now, being in a new village, alone, scared... it was definitely necessary. I was in my own world, dark and cold, never noticing someone in the distance watching, listening to me. My tears fell endlessly now, falling like two mini waterfalls on my face, running down to the nape of my neck, soaking the collar of my kimono. And once again, locked within my own world, I never noticed that same person who was watching, listening to me, was now sneaking up from behind me. Once that person was close enough, they reached around and gently wiped at my tears with a gentle, caring finger. I snapped out of my cold, dark world, jumping in startlement, which caused me to drop my harmonica near the rivers edge, before I spun around to see who had touched me so caressingly, so gently. I was surprised to see Jiraiya, catching me in his arms before I fell into the river and continued to wipe at my tears, of which I just realized that were still falling, while I was facing him. "W-what are y-you doing h-here?" I stuttered in question, turning my head so I didn't face him, trying to hide my shameful figure. "Well... I was on my way to my mission, when I heard this beautiful, sad song... with the most beautiful girl that I've ever seen playing, singing it." he said as he let me go and bent to pick up my harmonica, handing it back to my slightly trembling hands. "I-I didn't think that anyone would f-find me h-here...." "Well, this trail isn't used very often, but I tend use when I'm doing a mission, I just want to get over with quickly, or else I would've taken the main trail, but I'm glad I didn't." he smiled at me slightly. "So... are you done crying, or do I have to cheer you up?" "My crying will never be done... Either someone does it where the tears fall.... or with the lingering aching feelings will stay bottled up inside you... No matter what, a person is crying... Inside or out..." "Well... do I have to get rid of the aching lingering inside you?" he questions, walking very close to me, until his chest was brushing against mine. I looked at him baffled, my face tinting with a soft red, as my heartbeat increased dramatically, with my breath seemingly to be stuck at the back of my throat. "Well......? If I don't get an answer soon, I'm just going to assume something..." he said slowly, wrapping an arm around my back. I just stood there stiffly, as still as a statue, frozen in place, while I stared into his deep, emotional eyes, unable to speak. His other hand cupped my cheek, while his other remained around my back, as he brought my face closer to his. Soon, there was only a nanometer of a distance between our lips. "JIRAIYA! Stop harassing the locals and let's get going!!" a blonde haired girl shouted, grabbing him by the collar and dragging him off, away from me. I did something that I thought that I'd never do... I snapped my arm out and reached for his wrist, and jolted him back towards me. "Hey! Jiraiya, knock it off!" the blonde growled. "It's not me." Jiraiya said with a hint of startlement, shock, amusement. She let him go and stared at me as if I was crazy, as Jiraiya resumed his position and kissed me. He certainly had the lips of an angel.... I lingered for a moment, before I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer, my tongue asking to enter the domain of his mouth. He opened, and I knew he was shocked that I was the one trying to deepen the kiss, while the blonde's jaw surely dropped to the floor. One of my hands caressed his hair at the back of his head as I pulled him deeper into the kiss, enjoying the soft lips on mine. He deepened the kiss even farther, his hand slipping down to my waist, before he pushed my hips against his. I brought my hands lower to the hem of his pants and held him against me, never wanting to let go, never wanting to leave his warm embrace. Tears welded my eyes again, but this time they were a different type of tear. "I thought I said don't cry?" he said wiping them away with his thumbs, before he kissed my eyelids then down to my nose and down to my lips. "These... are different tears... Tears of joy... I haven't been held, touched since I was 5 years old... let alone shone care from someone, like you're to me right now..." "Right.... But still, tears of joy or sadness, I don't like to see a pretty girl cry. Come on, I'll make it better. My mission isn't that important, Tsunade never wanted me to come in the first place." Jiraiya whispered, lifting me in his arms and started walking. I closed my eyes, enjoying his touch, his warmth, the aroma that bounced from his body to mine... But I took in a deep breath before I spoke, afraid, embarrassed, unsure. "I-I know we just met and all... but does all of this mean we're... you know... together?" "Only if you want, and if you don't, then we're just acquaintances." he set me back down onto the ground, looking into my chocolate brown eyes, holding me in his arms. "I... w-want it... You're the first person who made me feel like a person again... the first to show that I am existing and not just a fighting soul floating around... I-I... love you..." I paused, holding back my tears and wavering voice. "And I love you too. And I treat you this way because you are human, and you're very beautiful, and it's not right that you should be all alone." he nuzzled my hair with his nose. I began to choke on my own breath, on my own tears, on my own thoughts. I knew that I had no other choice... I had to run, leave the village I had just became apart of... I knew if I stayed for too long, someone from my past would find me, and try to kill me, like they had to my family. If it wasn't me they killed, it certainly would be the ones I cared for... And I couldn't bare the thought of losing more of the ones I love, care for. "Now now... why are you crying again...? I hate it when you cry." he whispered, cupping my face with both of his calloused, but soft, gentle hands, making me look into his eyes. "I-I'm sorry... I have to go!" I whimpered, placing on my lips on his, lingering for a moment, before I snapped myself away from him and disappeared, dropping my harmonica in the process. "Keade!? KAEDE!" came his call as he tried running after me, tried finding me, my harmonica clutched in his hand. That was the last time I ever saw Jiraiya, the last time I opened my heart, mind and soul to anyone. I wandered around aimlessly, carelessly, emotionless... my memories clinging to me and repeating themselves within my mind over and over, for years until I had made a bold choice.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am now, 50 years of age. And I have decided, that it was time to return to the one place I was truly happy since my family had died, going to relieve the continuous, lingering aching of my heart.

So here I am, wandering over the same path I took when I was 16. So many memories does this path hold... My metal attire clanked as I walked, my hooded cape flowing gracefully as I walked, my helmet cradled in one of my arms, my head down low.

I carried with me, my two metal fans that hung at my waist on a leather belt, with a pouch of kunais and shuriken strapped to my right thigh, and a leather pack with at least thirty dagger hilts and one sword hilt, all without blades.

I entered the village in mid-afternoon, asking once again, for an immediate visit to the Hokage. And again, like my first visit to Konoha, I was able to meet the new Hokage, with two guards at each side.

By the time the meeting was done, the sun was slowly setting, encasing the sky with natural beauty of the bright, but soft colors of orange, red, and light blue. I bowed down in respect at the female, blonde haired Hokage, thanking her for her time and hospitality before I left the room, a new headband in my hands.

I slowly walked down a sandy street, taking the whitish-gray clothes headband and tied it around my waist loosely, where it slanted off to the right. "Nar-u-to!!!" "Why you...! Sasuke!!!" "Shut up... loser..." "Will you three just shut up! What does this have to do with team-work...?" I heard four loud voices down the street, the same street I had met... him on. Once I reached a grassy clearing, I saw where all the shouting was coming from. Three students and a Sensei, training. Only one of the three students grabbed a hold of my attention, the spiky blonde haired one. He seemed so... familiar. I just shrugged off the weird feeling and decided to hold my head up high, as I continued on my way down memory lane. "Hi!" came an excited voice of a child, only getting me to turn around to look down at the blonde haired boy, who was being followed by a pink haired girl, a blackish-blue haired boy, and their silver haired Sensei. I just nodded my head up and down once, showing him acknowledgment that he was there and that I had heard him, my way of saying hello to new people. "Wow, cool outfit lady! Are you new here or something?" he questioned, getting me to sigh at his bubbly attitude. "Yes... I arrived here this afternoon, and here to stay..." I said in an airy voice, looking at the darkening sky engulf away at the bright, happy colors. "Hi! I'm Naruto Uzumaki, believe it!" "I'm Sakura Haruno." "Sasuke Uchiha..." "... Kakashi Hatake..." they introduced themselves, even though I had no care whatsoever about them... well all of them except the blonde. For some reason... he drew me in... The students themselves seemed to be around 16 years of age. "Hm... Kae-.... Kae..." I paused before I gave them my real name, I wasn't quite sure if I wanted them to know my real name... at least not yet. I stood there, my hands folding over my chest, before I breeze came towards my body, causing my hair and cape sway to my left, before my figure disappeared. "Wha...!?"

I grabbed my golden plated harmonica from a pouch on my leather pack that rested on shoulders and on my back, bringing it to my lips and began to play a soft, slow, sad and dark tune. My lips parted from the now warm and moist metal of my instrument, my eyes closed as I drew in a large intake of air. "Everyday... I think of you, and the night that I saw you last... I was once so happy, but that was when I was small... And here I am, sitting under the stars... and the full moon... all alone... All alone... and no matter, how much I try... my path stays the same. I'm a lone wolf... whose path relies... of darkness... and vengeance.... I live in the shadows... and darkness. My heart is so cold, covered in the thickest of ice... even though, my heart is burning with, the flames of hell... with the flames of love and passion for the one person that I have lost... letting him slip away from my grasp... just so I could keep him safe... My eyes.... dull from lack emotion, my mind draws blank... with nothing but the thoughts of, the past... For years, I have walked the same path... the path of a lone wolf. I have closed my heart, I've closed my mind.... I've closed my emotions... just to walk on this path, to walk on this path... all alone. Tears are brimming my eyes...." I sang quietly, leaning on the same tree, by the same river I had my first kiss... Tears, again, tears welded my eyes, soon spilling down my face as I stood, leaning against the large tree, my hooded cape swaying with the wind and away from the tree, my helmet and leather pack at my feet. I was in my own world again, dark and cold, re-living my past for the trillionth time, never noticing someone in the distance watching, listening to me. And once again, locked within my own world, I never noticed that same person who was watching, listening to me, was now sneaking up from behind me. Once that person was close enough, they reached around and gently wiped at my tears with a gentle, caring finger. I snapped out of my cold, dark world, jumping in startlement, which caused me to drop my harmonica near the rivers edge, before I spun around to see who had touched me so caressingly, so gently.... just like Jiraiya had done in the past. I was shocked to see the 16 year old Naruto standing now in front of me, bending down to pick up my harmonica and handing it back to me. I took it back gratefully, placing it back in the leather pack, before I turned to look at him deep in his emotional eyes. *This is why this boy drew me in from first site... he reminds me of Him...* I sighed, "What are you doing here?" I questioned a little too harshly, but I didn't apologize for my rashness, turning my head so he couldn't see my disgraceful, shameful face. "Well... you left so suddenly... I wanted to make sure you were ok... So I headed down this way, since this trail isn't used very often... and then I heard that beautiful, sad song..." he answered, looking at me with such caring eyes... caring eyes I haven't seen since I saw him last. I hadn't realized that my tears where still running down my face, endlessly, never-ending, and it seemed to me that Naruto took notice of that, because at that very moment, he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into a tight hug. "Let it all out... Let all the tears fall. People have to cry, people need to cry.... Everyone is crying, it's not just you... You're just the only one smart enough to let the tears fall.... If people cried more, people wouldn't have so much of the lingering aching feelings that are bottled up inside of them... No matter what, a person is crying... Inside or out..." he cooed in a soothing, childish tone, reminding me... of me. I have said something around those lines once before, 34 years ago to be exact... I returned his hug, my grip tight around him. "Very wise for such a young one you are Naruto." I whispered, slowly loosening my grip around him, soon ending the hug. "Thank-you.... Naruto."

I've grew quite attached to the hyperactive ninja named Naruto, being here in Konoha for only a week and a half. In fact, I would spend most of my time with him, unless I wanted to be alone to think. We would frequently go to the Ichiraku Noodle Shop. It was amazing how much ramen he could eat...

Every night, when I knew I could be alone, I'd go to the river and the big tree... playing my harmonica and singing. And one day, I hadn't realized that someone had followed me. "Oh Jiraiya... How much I miss you is unrelenting..." I whispered, dropping to my hands and knees, to run one hand in the rivers rushing water, after I had removed one of the metal armlinks. The sun had set hours ago, the moon was once again full, and brighter than ever. "Wolf Transformation! Black Wolf Jutsu!" I whispered, transforming to a large, black wolf. My eyes were a glassy yellow, and my fur was a color of a jet black. I stood boldly on all fours on the rivers edge, lifting up my large head, before I began to howl mournfully. The howl echoed through the air and into my ears. It was a long, moan of a howl, full of mourn and regret. After the howl was done, I took a seat on my haunches, lowering my head in defeat and cowardliness. A lone tear rolled out of my yellow eyes and into the river water. The headband swayed loosely around my thick, furry neck, as my right eye and its scar was revealed. The right eye was dull and misty, indicating the blindness of the eye. As my other eye was bright and gloomy, but glassy looking, as if tears were being held back. The wind blew against my fur, making it puff up against its roots. Even though I held my head low, I still looked very serious and determined about something. My ears drooped sadly, as my tail hugged my legs tightly together, as if being hugged by someone. I lifted my head up for another long, mournful howl, my form being swayed to the right, as the wind blew against me. I howled one last howl, before I transformed back into my normal form, replacing the armlink back onto my arm before I grabbed my leather back and helmet, before I headed off for home. *Jiraiya? Is that why she's always out here? Did she once live in Konoha too? How does she know Jiraiya-Sensei? Is she too 50 years old, but looks 30?*

Naruto had invited me to a Valentines' Day Party at his house that was at the end of this week. I was unsure if I should go, but I didn't want to hurt the boys feelings, so I decided to go. I went to a kimono shop, looking for a certain kimono I saw a few days ago. And there it was, in the back, a black, gold and white silk kimono, that came with black knee high socks and shin high red boots, plus a golden metal belt that held one smaller green glass ball and one larger. Also, it came with golden metal bracelets that had the seem to have the same green glass balls as the belt did, and it came with a golden metal dress headband, a small green glass orb and a golden metal raindrop dangling. Actually, it looked a lot like Egyptian clothing. I instantly took a hold of it and bought it, hurrying home to get ready for the party tonight. Normally I wouldn't dress any different than I normally do... but something told me I should.

Once I was ready, I hesitated to leave my home, but I eventually walked out the door and into the moonlit village. I closed the door and looked up at the moon and stars, sighing. I slowly walked to Naruto's house, feeling uncomfortable in the silken kimono. The last time I wore a kimono was on that day... I was in such a hurry to get to Naruto's house, I ran into a long haired man. "I'm sorry swee... tie..." "I'm sorry!" I yelled behind my back, running my way to Naruto's house, feeling even more uncomfortable now. The feeling worsened when I entered Naruto's house, having all the eyes falling upon me. I smiled weakly as I entered the house, the door closing behind me. All of the younger ninjas were there, with their Senseis talking outside on the balcony. I went up to Naruto first, then Hinata, and so fourth, saying 'hello' and 'have a good time', before I pushed my way through and went to the other side of the balcony, away from everyone else. *I don't know why I even came to this party... I hate parties, especially Valentine's Day Parties. Parties like this are more for the couples... not singles...* I thought as I closed my eyes and threw back my head, leaning my body over the railing as I moved closer to the wind, letting it push back my hair and make my kimono sway, acting as if it wanted me out of it. I stayed at the party until the slow dancing started. Once I saw everyone slowly, hesitantly pairing up with someone for the dance, I've had enough and decided to go to the river. I apologized to Naruto for my early leave as he danced with Hinata, before I slowly walked out of the house and down the street.

I grabbed my harmonica and began to play sad sounding notes, my eyes closed and back leaning against the tree as I sat on the grass, listening to the echoing sounds of the notes bouncing and floating into the air. I was in my own world once again, never noticing faint footsteps coming closer towards me. I stopped playing to slowly open my eyes to look at the full, angelic moon and the star speckled sky, putting the harmonica in my weapon pouch that was on my right thigh. The never ending pain... the never ending pain of a broken heart.... and a shattered soul..." I paused, feeling the hot liquid fall from my eyes and down my face. "I miss you so... so much Jiraiya..." so lost in my thoughts, memories, I never noticed that the same person who was watching, listening to me, was now sneaking up from behind me. Once that person was close enough, they reached around and gently wiped at my tears with a gentle, caring finger. I snapped out of my world, jumping in startlement, before I spun around to see who had touched me, wiped my tears away. It was just so dark, I couldn't see who the shadowed figure was that stood tall behind the tree I now stood nearby. Who ever it was, pulled me into a soft, but warm embrace, continuing to wipe away my tears. "W-Who are you?" I mustered to get out, trying to reach my pouch for a kunai. "Well... I was on my way to my mission, when I heard this beautiful, sad song... with the most beautiful girl that I've ever seen playing, singing it." my hand froze in mid movement as my eyes widened as large as they would go, my body beginning to slightly tremble in this mans grasp, embrace. "J-.... Jiraiya?" I asked with a trembling body, my head shifting to look up at who was holding me, tears falling endlessly onto the mans long sleeved shirt. "I thought I said don't cry?" he said wiping them away with his thumbs, before he kissed my eyelids then down to my nose and down to my lips. His arm wrapped around my back, while he held me as close to him as possible. *These lips... there is no mistaking them for any other.... They're the lips of my angel, Jiraiya....* I thought happily, my tears of joy staining my face. I hesitated, but I soon returned the kiss, wrapping my arms around his neck to pull him closer. I was the one to slid their tongue over the others lips, asking to enter the domain of his mouth... just like in the past. I put all the fiery passion, force and lust that was held inside of me all these years into this kiss, deepening it as much as I could, enjoying the soft lips on mine. He deepened the kiss even farther, if that was even possible, his hand slipping down to my waist, before he pushed my hips against his. I brought my hands lower to the hem of his pants and held him against me, never wanting to let go, never wanting to leave his warm embrace, not again. "I love you so much Jiraiya..." I whispered once we separated from the kiss, my eyes still closed, enjoying the lingering feeling of his warm, soft lips on mine, of his hot, moist tongue exploring every crevice in my mouth. "And I love you too..." he whispered in a low, husky voice, lifting me into his arms, his warmth from his body engulfing me as he slowly walked away. "Don't ever let go..." I whispered, rubbing my face into his chest while he carried me. "Oh trust me... I won't, never again..." he whispered assuringly, going into his pocket and handing me my old, silver plated harmonica. Our special link, surely one of a kind.
